Beautiful. Looking forward to it.

I noticed this last weekend that the tips of the sea grass are just starting to turn golden. A sure sign fall is coming; the harbor is very pretty this time of year.

There seem to actually be some fish in the harbor and LI sound this year; we may actually go fall fishing for the first time in 4 or 5 years.

The marina gets quiet, the anchorages open up, the wind dies down, the stripers and salmon start their fall run. Fall is boating's best kept secret.

I love Fall boating. Oppressive Summer heat and humidity cools down, easier to get in to transient Marinas, anchoring spots are less crowded, less knuckleheads on the water.
Only downside is the constant sad feeling over impending winterization.

We enjoy putting our boat away in the fall. It is part of the seasonal rhythms. The gales of November will be here in two months and it is a good feeling to have the boat tucked away in a warm, clean building.

What's this "inside storage" thing? Here's my baby in the winter...

and my deck hand helping with putting in the deicer pump.

Yup, it's getting closer. Must be time to head to AZ!

I didn't know it got that cold in NW Washington. Thought the ocean moderated the temps and you were mostly in the 40s with rain instead of snow. Obviously, I am mistaken.

That feeling I have right now is envy. Indoor storage is as rare as hens teeth around here.
Inside heated storage was introduced here about 35 years ago as a premium service. It proved to be so popular that almost all inside storage is now heated in this market. The biggest advantage is keeping your boat clean as there is no need to perform winterizations that do take a toll when they are performed by some marina staff. You have no unknown people crawling into and out of your boat with greasy shoes and work clothes. We switched marinas many years ago because the folks doing the fall work could not seem to learn to wash their hands when working on a clean boat nor to not lay greasy tools on white seats.

That's what I'm in this year! Looking forward to it. Just paid for it, UGH.

No inside storage around here. In fact, in the last few decades the choices for storage have narrowed. Lots of Marinas and boatyards sold out to developers who built condos and available slips go to residents.

We store ours in a cave....literally. It's an old underground mine that has been converted into a storage facility. There are also a few businesses in there too. It stays above 55* but is pretty humid. We use Humid-Dry or Damp-Rid buckets and spray it down with Lysol before storing it. They do have a climate controlled section but we are about #60 on the waiting list...lol

It doesn't get that cold in NW Washington but we're way across the state tucked down in the SE corner. If you look on Google Maps for Kennewick, WA you'll find us. That's where the boat is moored and we live in Pasco, across the river and upstream a few miles.

And yes, it does get cold here. Normally we have one or two snowfalls of an inch or two and if you want to shovel you have to be quick before it melts. That winter was an unusual one and it snowed and snowed and snowed.

Yuck. Someone please say something horribly offensive so we can get this thread locked.

Ok, I’ll try.

Sea Ray boats are terrible, were always over rated, and Bayliners are better in every regard!
