Oops. That Azimut is (was) one nice boat. Too bad ...glad no one was hurt.

We all make stupid mistakes. They just happen to be very expensive on a boat.

I don't think there is any "inexpensive" way to leak diesel fuel.

The article is wrong! He did not come in the wrong side of the channel. It was late he was going to slow and the northeast wind and current blew him into the end of the jetty because he cut the corner too close. Sea tow pulled him off and put him on the beach. It happens there more often than you may think. It is his first time here and it can be a tricky 100 yards.

Hitting the rocks happens more frequently than you might think. We had a 50 Viking run across the jetties in Panama City 2 years ago.....and he was hooked up and running 30 kts when he ran ccompletely across the rocks and came to rest in 6 ft of water on the back side.

My 450DA was the 2nd one the previous owner had. He ran across the jetties in Destin FL in the first one. When asked how he happened to rip the bottom out of such a nice boat, his answer was simply "Jim Beam made me do it". His insurance replaced 450 #1 with my boat which he immediately traded on a 55 Sedan Bridge thinking he could see better from the bridge.

True statement. The view through the bottom of a glass of Jim Beam is a lot better from a fly bridge.

There is no cure for stupidity.

sounds similar to the guy in the Meridian that hit the Montauk jetty a few weeks ago......after grounding earlier that same day in morichies

Now days I have seen a lot of boaters have nice fancy electronics. Problem is a lot of them don’t know how to use them.

I know a guy 7-8 years ago had just spent 15K for all new electronics on his 36ft Mainship motor yacht. He cut inside a marker off of Castle Island in Boston Harbor at low tide. Lucky he just took out all the running gear and the boat stayed afloat with several people onboard. Well come to find out he never turned on his brand new electronics because he said he grew up in Boston Harbor and every square inch! Ha o_O

They were getting it off the beach today. The spent all day doing what seems like patching the breaches in the hull because at about 4pm the boat floated on its own with only one bag on the side and sea tow was towing it away. Sorry, pics are sideways and I can’t get them to rotate.

The guy in the pink shirt looks pretty dejected the way he's sitting. The owner maybe? Poor guy.

Here is the boat on the hard. Lots of damage.

No further than the picks that I posted of it getting lifted up with the crane.

Arrogance is just another word for stupid.
