the light won't go on for neutral on port engine my ERC display...port will crank but no start. Just called my shop. They told me about the neutral safety switch.
I located it and manually depressed it. I also disconnected, cleaned and re connected the attached harnesses. No luck. I've jiggled the port stick trying to make a connection but nothing. Weird too because with the starboard running, I can put it in to 1 lever operation (port stick) and it will go in to gear..so I have comms with the port stick. Just no positive neutral indication, which is why I beli the port engine will not fire up...cranking, no start.
Any ideas are welcome. Looks like it may be a weekend on dry land.

Not sure about your more modern setup, but I don’t think it should even crank with an inoperative neutral safety switch.

So we were lucky to find a neutral safety switch. Installed it, still no start. Here's my vessel view screen..apparently the boat thinks it's in reverse on the port engine.
I'm trying to figure out how to maybe reset it?
I disconnected and reconnected all the involved harnesses.includimg under the controls.
Port cranks but no start.

If your shift actuator on the engine only has a neutral switch, than how does the helm display know that you are in reverse?

There must be a microswitch at the helm under the lever you pictured earlier.

After going through everything and observing the starboard shift actuation vs the port, and attempting to make adjustments, it seems the drive is mechanically stuck in reverse. So either something is wrong with the drive, or the cable is bad. I'm on one engine for the time being.
