Please delete

A decision was made by the board members (Not the Mods) a long time ago not to delete threads.
 
I would like to know how winch is doing. If you are viewing my comment I hope you are well and getting on with boating. I am shocked and unimpressed that your thread got highjacked when you were looking for a safe community space to tell of your perilous boating experience . Sorry
 
I WANT TO BE CLEAR -

I'm not saying the thread should be deleted. I don't think it should. I know lawyers will have a field day and I'm sure Winch needs to deal with what he said. But, we all wish him well and hope he's ok...

What I'm saying is the thread got hijacked and derailed by one new member that has brought little to no value to the site and his posts and the crap about him should be removed...Perhaps he should be removed, I don't know. It's really up to him and how wants to present himself as a member here.

FYI - I suggested Xenforo so I know how easy it is to clean this up.

Winch, if you are reading this, hope everything is cool with you and you feel you can post again. Even if it's in generalities or something unrelated.

I think if you start down this path your going to have to figure out what should be deleted and what shouldn't and not a lot of people are going to be happy about it, just like not everyone is offended in this thread.

If it is down right offensive or threatening...then you could handle it like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter etc ...report it and have the moderators see if it violated some rule and then deal with it.

Agreed. Posts from threads shouldn't be randomly censored, it becomes a rats nest if we go down that road. The only words that matter to the lawyers are those written by the OP. Everything else is just assholes with opinions.

Never assume the other guy will follow the rules. Keep watch and avoid the situation.
