Where did you buy these from?

Installed the gasket on the vent window this weekend. The worst part was removing the old fossilized gaskets around the sides and bottom of the vent. Once properly cut, the new pieces fit right in. The shorter gasket part looks like the window gasket in the fixed frames, not the gasket at the for the vent glass and I did not use it. I ran out of time to water test it for leaks, but it looks tight.

I should have done this years ago.

I just received my gaskets and will install this weekend. Is the gasket just a friction fit or did you use a sealant too?

When you said shorter piece does that mean that we do not have to order both?

I used a friction fit, but may use a sealant if it works loose later. But everything seemed to fit tight.

I only used the 5’ piece to fill the bottom and two sides. The shorter 2’ piece did not look like it matches what was on top and since the old piece was sound, I didn’t fiddle with it. Depending on y9ur setup, I think you can get away with ordering only the one piece.

Agree - I will not need the 2' piece either and i'm not sure its correct for the top. The top of my vent window is fine its just the sides and bottom that need replacing which the 5' piece is the correct part.

The shorter piece on my window fits on top perfectly and the 5 foot piece wraps around the sides. Perfect fit

In the process of purchasing a 97 370DA with twin cats. Happy to see all this info about 370’s!

Well, guess the timing could have been worse, but got bad news from the mechanic today. One of my motors is shot. And looking like a rebuild may not be an option. It threw a rod from the crank shaft and actually punctured a hole in the oil pan. Ouch!
Soooo, any advice out there on re-powering our 370s? Mines a 95 with carb motors so looking forward to fuel injection if that’s a possible upgrade. Mechanic is looking around for possible rebuilds this week to just change out the one motor...
All comments are welcome.

Mercruiser has a factory rebuild and repower program. I talked with them about it when I was looking at 370s. Its fulfilled through dealers but the factory can explain the program. The tech I talked with was really helpful about explaining the program and recommending engine options. Wont be cheap but you will know what you are getting.

Twin diesels are a rare find for a 370. Probably reflects in the purchase price. Here’s to hoping your survey comes 9ut well. Welcome to the 370 thread.

If you're looking to get on the water sooner than later, the quickest will be to find a used drop in replacement engine. Swap any components over and you'll be on your way ($6k-$8k installed I'd imagine). If you're looking at new, you'll likely be in the $20k+ range for a set. While moving towards fuel injection would be a nice upgrade, keep in mind that if you go fuel injection, the engines in the newer 370's/380's required reworked exhaust due to the cam overlap with those motors. The upgraded cam for the additional hp on the fuel injected engines led to water ingestion. Now you're into another $2500-$3500 to upgrade the exhaust. In my opinion, you're better off replacing 'like for like'. I believe there was a throttle body option by Merc which didn't have the water ingestion issues (rated at 320hp?) that would also be a relative easy swap. I'm unsure if this was a factory available option from Sea Ray, but the engine combo was available by Merc in the mid to late 90's.

Got the new name on this weekend. My wife is a graphic designer and she designed it, I took off the old name and prepped the surface and she installed it. It was our first one. We already got people asking us how much we charge. I told her she has a new business now. Boat is listing as it needs fuel in one tank sorry!

Thanks! Survey came out pretty good on everything except there was some wet wood in the backing for the swim platform on the inside of the transom, a few other minor things and they agreed to take the cost of those repairs off the final price we agreed on.
