Your token sailor... :)

Sails reefed, everything in its place, foulies on, nothing like a good storm to bring out the best in a sailor.... and sailboats typically handle bad weather FAR better than powerboats. We can't outrun the storm typically, so we buy boats that can deal with them.

There you go again Popeye. You just can't help yourself, eh?

If you mean my storm comment about sail vs power - it's true, whether or not you like it. Damn few powerboats are built to take on the kind of weather that a sailboat is, because they aren't intended to be used the same way. Those that are are typically well over $1 million and heavier, displacement style boats.
I weathered a 70 knot one hour storm squall in the Bahamas a few months ago - I doubt very much your boat could have done so without either being blown aground or receiving substantial damage. My remark wasn't a criticism of power either, just noting how it is. You're really thin skinned, aren't you?

My bad, Popeye. I should have been more specific. My observation throughout this thread is that humility is clearly not in the Blow-Boater's handbook. Over and out.
Actually, Mother Ocean teaches us humility on a regular basis. And as I said, I think to you - it ain't bragging if you've done it.

Sorry, I failed to see any chest thumping in Canuck's post #1. Ease up fellas. We're all friends here.
If you sense some animus toward Canuck it's spillover from the first thread he participated in. He saw someone use the term 'sailboat infestation'. This bothered him tremendously, such an affront to ragboaters should not be tolerated, he suffered greatly as the inner battle raged for 3 days...what should I do, what should I do?

Under the guise of improved understanding and relations between the two communities, blowboat and power, he offered to help us learn. With his superior intelligence, nautical experience, and taste in the 'good' beer, he would reach into the darkness, take us by the hand, and show us the light.

Unfortunately as an emissary bearing goodwill he failed, by his own admission not very diplomatic, his style much like Rosie O'Donnell....yes, communicate with him and there's a good chance you'll be told you're a jerk, dickhead, stupid, a jagoff, a jackass, and need an 'attitude adjustment'. If you're wondering about the 'good beer'....well, he informed us that his pee tastes better than the beer some of us drink....how he knows this, who knows.

Initially I just figured during his 3 days of inner turmoil that he was drinking. Being 'three sheets to the wind' would account for his Rosie O'Donnellesque behavior but he's had time to sober up......now I just think he doesn't have both oars in the water.

Most eloquent.

Well, other than the "suffering greatly", most of what you said is crap, and really, you're being hyperbolic. I said my piece, and a few folks got annoyed by being told more bluntly than they liked that their comments about sailors weren't appreciated. Too many powerboaters have a bad attitude towards sailors, and little understanding of basic realities, like the ColRegs, that we all live under.
A few folks here have made me feel welcome, and a couple more helped me realize a few things about powerboaters I didn't know - causing me to realize I could learn and benefit from this group - probably not from you and those like you, but certainly many of the others.
In return, I'm offering to provide a sailor's pov on boating, and explain - for those who wish to learn - how sailboats and sailors differ from powerboaters. Not really a lot more that I can offer. Nowhere did I say I have "superior intelligence", or "nautical experience", but I suspect that being Canadian, I'm likely a better judge of beer :)
As for your supposition that I spent three days drinking, well, if making false accusations is what floats YOUR boat, you just carry on. OTOH, I've discovered that qui s'accuse, s'excuse. You might think about that - once you've googled what it means, that is.

Most eloquent.
Absolutely. Reminds me of what an English prof I knew said about an essay he received - "On reading this, I was reminded of feces wrapped in brocade. Very attractive on the outside, but when you unwrap it, you find a quantity of waste material"

I don't think Canuc, was puffing out his chest or bragging. Like he said, if you've done it you ain't bragging.

Canuck, welcome to CSR. I like to get the perspective from another corner, especially when it's different from the usual stuff on here.

For those thin-skinned stink potters on here, put in your big girl panties and open your minds to another opinion. You may learn something in the process.

I'm convinced our narcissistic friend is relentlessly attacking / belittling in an effort to get banned, which he will wear as a badge of honor. As someone stated earlier, don't feed the troll.

If that were the case, I'd not have started my other thread, would I have?

Honestly, I had hoped your attempt at a fresh start would go better. It hasn't. Rather than just share your knowledge, you keep taking the pot shots. Why?

You make it so easy.... and I'm only returning incoming fire if you'll notice.

Thanks for the welcome, and support. Much appreciated! I'll do my best to live up to it.

You’re like the thief who breaks into your home then doesn’t want to get shot once you catch him trying to get away.

You can’t come in with guns ablaze and later claim you’re only returning fire. Seems a tad cowardly. You’re now reaping what you sowed.

That's actually a valid point - but the blazing guns were due to a couple of mortars - depth charges? - like 'sailboat infestations' that got launched here.... You think anyone would have paid the least attention if I'd come in quietly? Not likely, but I bet a few folks are rethinking their attitudes towards the other. I am - and in favour of the powerboaters too. You guys aren't nearly as bad as I expected....hmmm... no saying that well, is there? :)
