Another powerboat hits a sailboat....Didn't know sailboats always have the ROW

I don't know. Just think about the ribbing he's going to take from all of his sailing buddies. I wonder if he had filed a declaration of war against the USA.

Good thing she wasn't active....

I was out there when this happened. Pics attached. Insane how someone could hit the Midway. Not like AIRCRAFT CARRIERS are small.... and the USS Midway has been docked there for about 2 decades and is a maritime museum.

Watch the guy sue the museum...and win.

Most blow boaters eventually become powerboaters. He just decided to turn his blow boat into a powerboat the quick and easy way! :D

There's a huge current, up to 4 knots at that location, it's easy to misjudge it, or get pushed the wrong way by it. I'm a bit south of there now and sailed past that boat many times. A bit of misjudgment of your mast's height vs the big ship and bang. But the guy shouldn't have been that close anyhow. Captain's error, no question, unless the engine failed.

Figured there had to be some local knowledge there. If you have never spent much time sailing you would not understand the effect current has on a sailboat vs a power boat. You have the sail, but you also have a keel that is like having a sail below the water line also. Still way tool close to the ship - unless there is something else we don't know, captain kinda did that one to himself. And that ain't gonna buff out!

Nice to have a sailor mixing it up with us SeaRay folks!

Nice to hear that someone think so… :)

That would be nice, but there was an inability to manoeuvre on the part of the Midway. She was the stand on vessel :)
