420 DA Thread

kysearay....+1 on everything ASH said. The charger for the bow thruster is kinda behind the couch, but you can see it from the "hole" below the Salon Breaker Cabinet. Check your voltages on the thruster batteries. My boat had a bad thruster battery charger which was completely missed my the surveyor (and me). It lasted several weeks. If you need a new charger, the ProMariner ProNautic 2420 (24 volt/20 amp) is an excellent choice.

Im thinking that the charger has gone bad as the batteries only had 9volts under load and the chager wasnt putting out squat!
Where did you purchase the ProMariner - i thought i remembered someone being pleased with a vendor for that?

Your batteries are likely toast now as well! That's why batteries need to be tested under load, resting voltages don't mean a whole lot.

Looking for these 4 switch covers. Can't find anywhere usual like Pounder, Google, etc.

Add it to the list, I ordered a new charger from defendor today and looks like I have two batteries in my future!!
Bring Out Another Thousand!!!

I had the marina put it in as it happened when we first bought the boat. Today, I would just Google the charger, and buy it from the best priced vendor. West Marine price matches.

Does anyone have an LED solution for the closet lights? I bought a "bayonet" style from W. Marine and it fit but would not light up. I reversed polarity since that is a common issue but no joy. bulb.jpg

They look like standard 1156 bulbs. Mine is an 1141. Both conversions should work as they are the same base.

That said, I believe the 1156 burns hotter, so i wouldn't use a standard 1156 inside as it may melt the housing. An 1156 LED conversion wouldn't produce the heat though.

Yes that’s what I thought I bought. I’ll retry and thanks!!

Just swapped out my cockpit tv. Over the air channels never worked but I assumed that was because the stock tv didn't have a digital tuner. Anyone get there local channels to come up?

Glomex connected and amplifier on max. Direct tv box off. Auto tune on tv only picks up direct tv box. Otherwise nothing.

:/

My original glomax antenna picks up all kinds of digital channels with a new smart tv. I was amazed. I thought I would have to change antennas.

Yeah. Was like that in my 260. Was hoping I would have the same results.

Crap. Guess that means I have to track down some wiring.

Anyone know where they all tie together? Thinking there's a splitter behind the breaker cabinet.

Ok i have another thruster question, sorry guys..... So I have the new charger and would like to swamp the batteries as well so that i have an accurate install date. What is the best, most reliable battery for a 24 high need setup - AGM, Wet cell etc...
Thanks all!!
Chris

If you have a new thruster charger that is "smart" you really don't need to spend a bunch of money on expensive batteries. The demand on them is low and infrequent. It is your boat do what you want....You probably already know this but you will be buying 2 batteries at 12 volt to fix your boat.....

We lost a 2005 420 over the weekend on Lake Texoma. This was the 100% sistership of my boat. No cause of fire is know yet
