I've been meaning to post some pics of last month's trip up to Desolation Sound, so here they are. Such a gorgeous part of the world. This trip officially, finally got my wife 100% invested in the boating lifestyle. Both her and my 2 year old son had such a great time, that it just couldn't be helped. When we're all together on the boat in a place like this, it's so easy to be completely detached from the outside world. Fortunately the only mechanical issue we had was a blown genny impeller which I was prepared for and replaced in less than 30 minutes. :)

Here's the first batch:

Drone shot at a waterfall in Toba inlet. The water is this milky green color from the glacier melt runoff.

More of Toba Inlet ...you can see some of the glaciers near the peaks centre of frame.

Enjoying a beach at Pendrell Sound ...this is the warmest Pacific water north of Mexico in this Fjord due to tidal stagnation. (It was about 75 degrees but even warmer later in the season) As a result of the warm water, oysters thrive here. (they were everywhere)

Sunset view looking toward Toba from our spot for the night. You can see another glacier here atop a 9000ft peak.

Our anchorage at Pendrell Sound. Many spots in this area require a stern line to shore.

Another beautiful sunset ....we were all alone, not a boat in sight.

Refuge Cove ..really the only place for provisioning in DS. They had some good steaks.

Theodosia Inlet ...again, all alone for the night. This view made me think of The Sound of Music.

Now going a little out of order here ...

Our view looking back up Toba Inlet from this little marina in the middle of nowhere. Great facilities. Toba Wilderness is the name of the place.

A 60 Sundancer with a 40 behind it. That 60 is a BIG boat.

I had a conversation with the owner of the 60. Me: :Really nice boat!" Him: "Why thank you!" Me: "That's our 340 over there." Him: "Ah, well now you have something to aspire to." Ha

Thanks guys ...and I thought I wanted the 40 next but after seeing that 60, I’ve decided on that. Hahaha. If only.

Mike, I am sooooo jealous of the beautiful country you have right at your back door. We've boated in the San Juans but I can't wait to venture further north.

Thanks for taking us along with you.

Stunning scenery, and the no crowds aspect - awesome.

Thanks for posting!

Thanks guys. It was quite the trip.

A few more pictures here. This was Buccaneer Bay on Thormanby Island on the way back down to Vancouver. We stopped here for the night before the last 2 hour leg back home. 2 hours is about the max my son will do before patience is lost. This was a great spot especially for kids.
