Can anyone out there point me in the right direction to source out a replacement for my tired old 1988 fuel pumps for my 7.4 l. engines? The OEM No. straight out of the original parts manual is 97399A2. Gasket No. 27-34213

i have a 96 370Sundancer with the fuel pump thats connected to the raw seawater pump and I've replaced mine from ebay $100 shipped but not painted, you will have to prime and paint before install! Good Luck and Happy Boating

I would recommend an OEM pump vs aftermarket such as Sierra. I believe OEM is made by Carter.

You have same fuel pump as me. Buy OEM as I purchased non OEM and they lasted 100 or so hours.
The OEM comes with the gasket and was $200 in Canada. There is a push rod that operates the cam on the fuel pump. It drops down when you remove the old fuel pump. Lift it up with finger or needle nose plyers and pack the area with wheel bearing grease. It will hold the 1/2" push rod up when you put in the pump.

Mercruser Dealer had one in stock. Non OEM it was from store in Port McNeil other one a marine supply store in Washington State. Took original one apart and the non OEM Non OEM had failed at the riveted plate at the diaphragm. Original I think it was one of the small valves.

On a new to me 1996 370 Sundancer, on the way home after purchasing the Boat from Port Clinton, Ohio to Algonac, Mich a five hour cruise took more than tewlve hours due to a failing raw sea water pump with fuel pump attached on top, the pump ran dry about half way home....got home on one leg and got to ordering a new pump and was reading instruction and it says to fill the sea water pump with gear lube in the cam area that pumps the fuel pump. In a post above by Northern, he says pack with grease....unscrew the top screw on the side of sea water pump and fill with Heavy Gear Lube.h

On fuel pumps that bolt to the engine there is a 1/2" push rod that operates the fuel pump arm. Lift the 1/2" push rod up and then pack the area (in engine) with wheel beating grease to hold the rod up so when you put in the fuel pump the fuel pump arm slides under the push rod. I have no clue what to do with a fuel pump that is part of the raw water pump.
