i have the factory converter in the boat and when in port on shoreline, I always keep it on. A friend advised that that is a no,no and will ruin my batteries? I am confused as I thought that the converter was for utilization of the 12 volt items on my boat when in pot\rt on shore power?

Thanks for any help...

You are correct.
It’s basically your battery charger.
Just check your battery’s water often.
Always on while the main engines aren’t running.

Thanks, The batteries are sealed, Marine, Group 31s, new in the spring of 16. The local sea ray salesman told a friend of mine that just bought a 06 340 sundancer from him to never leave the converter on. Heck, I leave it on all the time and the batteries are fine. Thanks for the response.

If that is the original charger/converter then your friend might be right - it is not an automatic charger, it may overcharge your batteries. If you have a newer smart/automatic charger then you can leave it on all the time.
