Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Thanks for the blueprint. I called sea ray and they dont have anything for that boat anymore.

Ok need little help . I’m looking at 330 and trying to find break year. Or is it options available at the time. What year did serpentine belts and fuel injection start ? And the step from swim platform to cockpit ? I’ve seen a lot of nice carburetor boats priced right. Just not sure . Can’t complain about mine now. Just figured I’d update a little lol. Since mpi been around for years

I believe late 1997 is when they switched to fuel injection. I dont think the 330 ever switched from the step down platform. I think that started with the 340 DA's around 2000.

Yep I believe it was an option as early as 1997. It would be the bluewater MPI engines in the 97-98. Something to consider is around the 98 time frame the horizon engines came on the scene and with them came the dreaded water ingestion nightmare. If you skip those years you are into the 340 2002-3 range and there was another big change in the 340 2003.5. So those issues may increase your budget....

Well the 330 was still around in 98 as I have one. It has horizons and I can't knock them as i've had it (and them) since they rolled of the factory floor in 98. As of today the only thing i've even done was to replaced one impeller. Zero issues with the engines. I'm not familiar with the water ingestion issue but I have a freshwater cooling system so maybe that's why i've never had any issues.

I've got a '98 with the MPIs and a step down to my platform from the cockpit. So it was happening at least the year of our boats.

Thank you. The compass is ok but I'm going to see if I can buy a new bezel for it. The sun has turned it very very yellow.
Oh that’s unfortunate. Sorry to hear that. Mine is black, so the fading is minimal

Ya I’ve read a bunch about the water issue. Seem to remember changing risers or adding spacers . Something to keep the back flow from engine. Thanks for everyone’s input

Some late 1990's 330DA updates:

Its been a while since I posted these pictures (and they were on Photobucket so the links are all long broken), but here are a few simple mods to my 330DA. :

1. Port side cup holder mod to make it actually functional
2. Cut-out of the stereo cabinet door so the door does not need to be opened to use it.
3. Other cup holder on the dash on the starboard side (also shows the new dash panels from Flounder Pounder)
4. Inverter mounted in the starboard cockpit storage
5. Golf Cart battery box below the inverter
6. Nova Kool 5810 fridge (just awesome!)
7. Cup holder on cockpit sink (hiding under the line) as well as rod holder for use with downriggers and as my BBQ mount

Can you talk to me about that refrigerator swap out?

Search this thread for Nova Kool and you will find the postings. The 5810 or 5812 (no freezer) will fit in the hole after trimming the top of the opening on the boat about 1/2 to 3/4". The glass/plywood is very thick so you will need a good jigsaw or maybe another type of saw to cut it. Measure twice, cut once.

The installation flange on the fridge is adjustable to allow the fridge to be mounted slightly out of the opening if the depth is not enough. The back of the fridge will contact a stringer in the back/right, but on my boat, and most others, you can hammer in the steel case on that spot enough to get get clearance. Its only insulation under that spot.

The fridge just barely fits down the hatch opening to get it in and its definitely a two person job to get it down without damaging things. You can take the door off to get a bit more space.

On the search for a 330 . Another question for you 330 owners. Cockpit air an option or all have? Can you feel it in summer or only with camper tops on. Thank you

I think it was an option. I have it on my boat and you can only feel it behind the wheel. It's not Air Conditioning, it's basically a fan. With camper top on it heats pretty good but this is via heat exchanger with one of the engines.

Are you talking about the newer 330's? This thread is for the 90's era vessels which I dont believe came with a cockpit air option. I think there was a hydronic heat option though for the cockpit.

Curious if anyone else has cracks starting to develop on the bow by the windless area.. Don't know if they are anything to worry about or if they will spook potential buyers when I go to sell or if stuff like this is just normal for that old of a boat, which is 1995 330. Here are some pics. Maybe hard to see on a phone vs. computer zoomed in.

Looks like your deck may have rotten coring from water getting in the area around the windlass. Its a common issue on these years 330’s and not good if large areas are soft. It means the balsa coring in those areas has rotted allowing the deck to flex. Does the deck flex at all in those areas? If so, you have that problem.
