I had a 24" LED TV in the cockpit for the past couple years....I decided to upsize it to a 32"....still have plenty of room to access the port side deck when needed.....

hoe lee fawk, cliff! that's YUGE!

How's the sound on that thing? I'm going to be upgrading mine as well, but concerned about the tiny speakers they put in them now a days. I thought about a soundbar, but that seems overkill. Also considered getting a bluetooth adapter and piping through the cockpit speakers, but might not be worth it if the sound is okay.

.....:D......

if we are just watching the news we will use the crappy built-in speakers....but when we watch movies I will use a nice Bluetooth speaker placed on the deck under the TV......I have it attached to the TV with a cord from the TV headphone jack.....that sounds pretty dang good and can get as loud as you want it to be.....

I have a quick disconnect mount so I can set up and take down the TV in under a minute easily....

cool. so, a wired bluetooth speaker for the tv only? or do you use it for anything else?

edit: and would you mind sharing which one you got?

thanks!

We had a BT receiver plugged into our 260 and transmitted the TV sound through the stereo system and we loved it. Our 44DB has a much nicer built in BT device that is hardwired and we run the TV through the stereo all the time.

All of your mods look great, but where do you stow all that stuff when you take the boat out on the water?

What?....you are supposed to take your boat out on the water?...away from the dock?.........

If we are slow cruising (which we do 95% of the time) I just leave the TV up....if/when we get on plane I store it it in the aft cabin....the other stuff is fine either speed....

Ahhhh.....Lake boating.......
Must be nice. I envy you.

thanks Bennett....

I thought of getting a BT adapter and playing the TV sound through the cockpit stereo, but I don't think I would like it.....the speakers for the stereo are not positioned well for this scenario....the TV and seating are positioned more in the rear of the cockpit while the speakers are more towards the middle and front of the cockpit....this would cause the sound from the TV coming from a different direction than the location of the TV.....that might sound a little 'weird' IMO....placing the BT speaker below the TV allows the sound and the viewing of the TV in the same direction....

Pretty sweet Cliff. What brand is the tv and do you have any issues watching during the day? I’ve got a 24 inch in my cockpit port side above the sink, but I find it annoyingly difficult to watch on bright sunny days no matter how bright I make the screen. All the white in the cockpit just reflects the light so much that the glare on the screen makes it almost unwatchable.

It is an inexpensive Visio but it has a pretty good picture....the only time we watch TV during the day is the early morning news and when the Carolina Panthers are playing football on Sunday afternoon....we don't do a lot of camping so we are normally at our dock at these times...our dock is covered so we don't have a problem with bright sunlight affecting the viewing of the TV....we normally have around 8 - 10 people siting around on the dock and in the boat watching the Panther game and don't have any issues seeing the TV from as far away as around 20'......the BT speaker I use with the TV for movies also works great on game day by pumping up the TV volume as loud as needed...

We had a 32" TV but when it was stolen we went with a 40" 4K smart TV and have the satellite dish wired into the stereo system... So we can use TV speakers or run it through the stereo. We listen to Direct TV's music channels all day long through the stereo and underway.

Mark does that Samsung get pretty bright for daytime sunny on the water viewing? We have a 32" Samsung in our bedroom that maybe we should swap out for the 24" (unwatchable in sunny daytime conditions) Insignia currently in the cockpit.

one thing I have noticed that may help with the brightness is changing the viewing mode in the menu to 'sports'....on some TV's this mode will significantly brighten the picture....

I see Cliff's note above and I have not gone into settings... We have sun brella blackout panels and I put a few to help with the picture before the sun has gone down.

Sorry to hijack, but what TV model is it? I'm upgrading shortly. I wanted a 32 for the 44da, but feel it may be too big. Considered the 24 Insignia - figured I could use a fire stick and sound bar if needed, but now curious about brightness too.
