Years ago I ordered something inoccuous from the mail order or online sales area on THT. They periodically send emails to previous customers referring you to threads on their forum. I got one today where one of their idiot experts (or expert idiots, which ever fits) was advocating building your own stabilizer.

Sea Ray used 2 Seakeeper Gyro stabilizers in the L650. They have a rotating stator inside them that work on the same principle as a kid's top spinning only the Seakeeper makes the boat run level as it removes up to 90% of the boats motion in moderate seas. They really work......it takes about 40 minutes for them to spool up to their 7,000 operating speed, they use a lot of current and you keep them locked until they reach the correct rpm.

Anyway, this THT guy's idea is to get a motorcycle wheel and fill the tire with antifreeze then spin it a few thousand rpm while it is anchored to his boat. Who knows if the idea has merit, but I do know I hope he tries it in a state other than the one I'm in.......I'm also glad he on not on CSR. It would be a full time job keeping all the new guys from trying his crazy ideas.

I dare you not to smile!

Hahha I initially was shocked it kept going but he had to of hard wired the thing on! Hilarious!

Unless you own the best and greatest center console you aren't welcomed on THT. And even then you had better have the best outboards with the latest fishing gear!

Frank, what's amazing about that video is Whirlpool is unable to keep my wife's new $1500 front loader running for much longer than that with just normal use.

That's exactly what I feel like driving in this DC traffic every day! So much stupid!!

Umm from my perspective tire+antifreeze does not have the mass to off set a ripple on his boat..... But good luck to ya! Hope he shares the video of the tests.

Oh and I like the Top Hat!!!

Seakeepers are put together right up the road from me, I just started following them on Instagram... Pretty wild the installations they are doing. Not only does it take 40 mins for them to spin up, they said that some units take... 7 hours to stop spinning. But don't worry, since the unit is off it does not go against your warranty hours!!!
