replacement anchor

Okay, I finally did it. Being more concerned and focused on bringing up the ladder I left the anchor down. Needless to say no more anchor or rhode. I have a 2006 340 Sundancer that had according to the specs a 25lb plow anchor. However, if memory serves me correctly and comparing anchors I believe it was a claw. I'm having a problem finding a 25lb replacement. I've found 22lbs and 35lb. Can anyone make a suggestion for a replacement anchor and rhode as the prices are across the board?

There are two main considerations before worrying about weight, and neither likely has anything to do with which anchor was supplied by the factory.

1) What is the bottom composition where you typically anchor. An anchor that holds well in mud or sand probably wouldn't be very good in rocky bottoms. You can look at what your marina mates are using to gain some local knowledge.

2) what will fit in your anchor pulpit. A large fluke anchor may gouge the front of the boat if the pulpit is not long enough, for example.

Once you decide on what style of anchor you need for the expected anchoring conditions, you can typically go to the manufacturer's website to determine the recommended anchor weight for your size boat. Get 1 size up from their recommendation.

Also consider the rest of your ground tackle. If you have chain + rode, a good rule of thumb is at least 1 boat length of chain. All-chain has some advantages, such as allowing you to use less scope, and in some cases the extra weight in the front can help get the boat on plane faster.

The only one I have found that fits our pulpit in the factory one. Most other will hit the bow. I am looking for link.

You guys save me big time. It turns out the Southcoast Marine sell the Kodiac anchor which is the only anchor that will actually fit and their pricing is outstanding. I should have the anchor by Wednesday. Thanks so much.
