Took the boat down to Coles Point for a few days. Great weather, great people, great time. The day of departure, we had a friend in a chase boat, so we got some great pictures while underway.

Coles Point Marina is great. If you go to the back, away from Tim's, it is quiet and there are floating docks. There is a pool at the marina. Tim's has a restaurant, bar, and a tiki bar. My two critiques are the bathroom/shower facilities are bare bones minimum, and their fuel prices are sky high! I paid $3.50/gal for Diesel. We have family in the area so we stay at their house. The daily rate is $1.50 per foot. The weekly rate is $6.00 per foot. Electric is $10/day. You need to be vigilant when approaching the entrance. First, be sure to go all the way around Ragged Point Light. Then, dodge the 500 million crab pot buoys to the entrance to the marina. If the cross wind is strong, don't be afraid to goose it a bit to maintain steerage in the narrow entrance.

I found out last week that all of the gasoline on that part of the river is high at every marina. Prices ranged from $3.80 at Coles Point to $3.99 at all of the marinas on both sides of the river from Colonial Beach to south of Coles Point. The prices ranged from $3.09 to $3.25 on the Occoquan and I really wished that I had filled up before we left home.

Just be glad you're not buying fuel in San Diego, CA (well over $4.00) and pushing $5
