Interested in hearing from anyone that has this engine in their SR. If so, what size boat do you have and how do you like them ? Are they powerful enough to get your boat up on plane quick enough, and what kind of efficiency are you seeing ?
Thanks !

I think you mean '4.3L' engine....it is a very popular engine on smaller boats...you should get plenty replies....

Actually I think he does mean 4.5, that's the new Mercruiser designed V6, they have been putting it in a lot of newer boats in place of the 4.3 and even 5.0's. Mercruiser is also designing and building the new 6.2 and 8.2. I think GM still casts the bare block for them but that's it, the rest of the components and assembly is all Mercruiser. I believe at the moment the only new engines available from Mercruiser are the 4.5. 6.2 and 8.2 and all are designed and built in-house.

I am also curious as to how these new engines are doing now that some of them have been in the field for awhile.

thanks for the correction Bill....my bad....:(.....

I would think the 4.5 is just a slightly overbored 4.3 and the same as the other two engines. Can't see GM making new blocks for those 3 engines. The 4.3 is just a shortened 350 block less the back two cylinders so its a proven block.
