If so, where would one confirm this? This is on a boat I looked at and cannot look at easily again. I do have serial number.

Thanks,

I asked the same question regarding my 2003 320 after reading the info on fuel flow and such,,, I was told that if you call SR with your Serial # they can tell you if if it is compatible

I can't imagine a model year 2000 8.2L (502) would be SC compatible. For one, it used a different computer that wasn't an SC-compliant computer. It is also an old school engine approaching the end of it's life with many manufacturer's as the 8.1L (496) was getting ready to come onboard to replace it. It wouldn't make sense to completely revamp the computer/electrical system for an outdated/about to be retired engine.

I thought that was the most likely outcome but thought it worth a check. I will just install fuel flow meters.

Thanks, MM

Check out fox marine . They had a unit that connected to my 2000 merc 454 Horizon . You can connect it to the ECM on engine and it tells you everything your ECM is capable of outputting via Blutooth to a smart phone. You can hook it up to a newer Gps unit and it tells you your fuel burn how much you have left in your tanks. MPG

So... the more important question... what boat are you looking at that has 502's? Not a whole lot of Sea Ray's used those monsters! FYI, keep a few quarts of oil on hand - they can sometimes be thirsty. Nothing to really worry about - just the nature of the beast.

Just had a friend put these in his 340. They work great! He had to chase down the guy at Fox. Apparently, he’s not super responsive. But the gateways work and he has Engine data on his chart plotter. Sweet!

The Merc manual says they can use as much as a quart in 5 hours if near WOT.

It may not be smartcraft compatible, but if the ecu has a MEFI connection (like OBDII on your car) you can get converters to connect it to NMEA2K, then all ecu info available on your chart plotter
