What a fool I've been... Added fuel flow meters...

Holy smokes those are some good numbers.

Installing meters was a game-changer. I wish I had had them a decade earlier. NOW I wish I had gateways to the ECM instead, but I've also heard people complain about the accuracy of the "injector pulse" measurements.

Try backing down to 1400 RPM. You'll get up to around 1.2 MPG.
I had floscans on my '89 340DB and the displays on this boat are connected to the ECM. Friends make fun of my love affair with numbers but you will learn your most efficient speed (not that you'll travel at that speed!) but you will also be able to sense when something isn't running right.

The above snapshot was running with half tanks on the bay, but the numbers make me happy...for a fairly heavy gas boat

I'd like that for tachs more than anything. My factory tachs are horrible. When Stee posted that he cruised at 23 knots / 3400 RPM my thought was "wow, that's a lot different RPM than I need for 23 knots". In reality, my tachs could easily be off by 200 RPM. They don't agree with each other, so I trust the more consistent one. Who knows if it's worthy of any trust.

So there I go, cruising with precise fuel, speed, economy, course, heading, XTE, entertainment and time information, but really no idea what RPM!

I have a love affair with numbers too. I know what will happen if I take the plunge and buy gateways: I'll be out of room for data on my current displays and will have to add a third. It just so happens that i have room in the dash and extra network ports. This may be a sickness...

So, I did remember to take a picture of the MFD and the fuel economy does show hundredths place. View attachment 58241

Makes a huge difference!

btw, if you have a writable SD card in the slot, you can hold the Home button to take a screen shot.

^^^^^always wondered how that's done!

Someone needs to erase their old tracks. A friend of mine has so many tracks all over his plotter you can barely see any chart detail. I erase mine each time I return to the dock.

I usually archive mine each season and keep them in Homeport for future reference. Got sloppy a few years ago though. Mine is looking kind of cluttered too.

Jason were you able to come up with any cruse numbers?
Due to incoming weather, we made a faster than normal run up to Kelley's the last time we went up. 3200 rpm vs the normal 3000 in similar seas (1 to 3's) it really did not seem to eat that much more fuel.

Greetings Mike,

I have only been able to run Aftica a few short runs. It seems that 3300 to 3400 is the sweet spot so far. I'm taking some time off to try and test out what's going on but those previous numbers I've had lots of visitors so I don't have true numbers for a 2 person boat with 3/4 fuel and empty water tank. I should hopefully know more after this weekend as I'm off Wednesday afternoon on. ;)

Wow. 34,000 RPMs. How long does that take to spool up? LOL.
