My E140W sees the Seatalk module and says it transmitting data but it doesnt see the Ray650 autopilot. Autopilot is functional as I can set a heading and it will turn and maintain the heading. The E140W has an X over the pilot icon.

Not sure what to check. Thoughts?

Thanks.

Did it all work before, or is this a new install? Any wiring changes made, or new components added?

New to me 400DB. No new equipment. As far as I know it worked during the sea trial.

Can’t speak to the specifics of the e140w but in the e120 classic there is a menu selection to “turn on” the specific NMEA interfaces like auto pilot and fish finder as well as radar. I highly suggest you call Raymarine customer support. They can quickly diagnose and solve your problem.

Further advice... India will answer the 800 line. When they do, politely ask them to transfer you to US support in New Hampshire.

Could be something is not connected properly but try this from the e140w manual..

7.1Enabling the autopilot control function:

1.Press the MENUbutton.
2.Select System Setup.
3.Select System Integration.
4.Use the Autopilot Control menu item to select the Enabled option.

Yep. Autopilot is enabled. E140W shows an X thru the autopilot icon.

Did find a note in the Ray Marine forum that the chart plotter will send data and engage the autopilot when a goto or follow track command is issued.

Going to try that.

Steve on my 400DB the autopilot control unit is not connected to the Chartplotter (in my case an older RL80c). It's Seatalk cable simply serves as a point to point connection direct to the course computer. The course computer is not on Seatalk either. The course computer is connected to the Chartplotter by NMEA to get the navigation data it needs to follow the course. Thus, the only way to control autopilot is from the autopilot display unit.

Trace the cables going in and out of your course computer. Check if its Seatalk cable goes to the Seatalk hub, or only directly to the autopilot display.

I had a similar issue a few weeks ago, except with eS chartplotters. Go to your Seatalk junction point. There should be a red stripe cable and blue stripe cable. The red one should be your power supply to the Seatalk network. Mine went back to a 3 amp fuse on the fuse block, which had failed. Replaced it and back in business.

Or you could just try this and likely have it working correctly by now:

Didn’t have time last week. Staying on the boat tonight and will call in the morning.
