1987 sea ray 230 Weekender

What do you think? I have a 1987 Searay 230 weekender. 5.7 w cobra sterndrive. While in forward knocking sound is heard from outdrive. Seems to have plenty of thrust on prop. No knock in idle or reverse. Does this sound like the forward gearset and pinion missing a tooth to you?

You might check the u-joints could need replacing

Did You Change Your Prop? Wrong Thrust washer or missing? If not Iam going with U-Joints as well.
