Have a mechanic unexpectedly doing work on my boat today, thought it would be a good time to replace the spark plugs. Looking for suggestions for plugs for 2006 380 Sundancer with 8.1's that won't break the bank, as the boat may go up for sale soon.
Thanks,
Mark

AC Delco 41-983, and there's a $2.00/plug rebate available - 16 plugs maximum.

just curious....how does a mechanic 'unexpectedly' do work on your boat?.....did he just show up and start fixing things without your knowledge?.....

usually most people have to 'beg' for a marine mechanic to show up and then wait for some period of time....

I have a great working relationship with my mechanic. He was scheduled to do some work, just didn't know when parts were going to be in. They came in yesterday and he was heading to boat today. I am fortunate enough to not have to wait for a marina and their schedule.

NGK TR55IX. Advanced auto with a code for about $6 each.

Related question re spark plug life. My 330 has carbed 7.4s. They have a reputation of being hard on plugs so I replaced them 9 yrs ago when I bought the boat and again about 5 years ago. But not since. When pulled they look normal. I’ll prkbably replace them this year but the boat is running fantastic with no misses or transmission rattle symptoms. What is your typical replacement cycle? ( I know they are cheap relatively speaking but I am a DIY and they are a literal pain to replace)

That's how I handle ignition parts as well...If it ain't broke..

You can get those plugs (the ACs) from Rock Auto. Very good base price, then cut out all the little boxtops and mail them in with the proper rebate form.
