I wasn’t really sure where to enter this but here it applies to,my future boat.

I’m a coffee addict. Nothing happens until I’ve had morning coffee. LOL
So I see these bigger boats all have coffee makers. B&D Spacemaker apparently. That’s a great selling point for me.

My average coffee maker lasts about a year and it loses performance even with extra care. So are these replaceable? I did a search regarding these here already. Apparently they are wired directly, not a simple plug in. Then looking on the Internet the best I can come up with is used ones on EBay. About 80 bucks. That seems pretty steep for a $15 product. I’ve tried to fix various problems by saving the old ones and scavenging parts but it is simply not worth the effort. Often the failure is in the boiler and they seem to go through yearly changes that make a simple swap very difficult.

So does SR sell a replacement unit or can I simply purchase one from a B&D dealer?

Funny timing, our 25 year old spacemaker just crapped out. I will most likely order one on Ebay.

My factory Spacemaker died a long time ago, but they were out of production even then. I got one from a friend who doesn't drink coffee. My boat has a regular outlet behind the cabinet.

My dock neighbors have a 390DA and wanted to upgrade to a Keurig. We convinced them to try our Nespresso, which they liked so much we gave it to them. What we didn't realize is that the coffee cabinet on the 390 doesn't slide out like the 400's does. They enjoy the coffee (and move the boat so little) that the unit has been sitting on their counter ever since.

When my current Spacemaker dies, I think I'd rather stow and retrieve a Nespresso unit every day over another drip/pot or Keurig.

We a carry along the small Keurig and pods for our morning coffee. On longer trips/stays we bring the refillable pods and a small can of coffee. This is more for space management.

I love coffee too, ...and have one cup every day. Doc said one cup is ideal for me. So I do one 24 oz cup. Boat has a coffee maker, house has coffee maker, and work has like 3.
I find it easier going to the local wawa and getting my coffee. Maybe i'm lazy, I don't know. Hate cleaning up after making one cup. This way I feel like I have an entire staff working for me ensuring that, when I want a cup of hot dress coffee, I can get it anytime of day. No hassle no fuss no clean up.

My daughter just gave me a little compact coffee maker that comes with a small cup. It makes a nice cup of coffee thats a little strong but the second cup is just about right. It is small enough that it wont take up much room in my 77 240 sda srv Sundancer. I have set it up with a inverter so it will run the 120 volt coffee pot and any other appliance and will recharge the batteries with my solar charger or if hooked up thru the onboard battery charger I installed.

Whether or not that was just fishing for a "Like", it deserves one. :D
Lol just the facts. When I try to be funny it comes across unfunny. When i'm honest, people think i'm funny.... go figure. But thanks anyway forthe likes!!

We have a single serve Kuerig that we keep on the galley counter.
I drink decaf, she drinks hi-test, so the Kuerig works out for us.
The cabinet where the original coffee maker was makes for some great storage.

I have been searching for a replacement without success. My
spacemaker currently works but im sure it will not last very long. I would like to remove it and mount a keurig machine on a slide
out shelf if i could figure out how to do it and find one that will fit. I was actually talking to my friend about designing something and having it made to sell cause there have to be tons of campers and trailers and boats of all kinds with dead spacemaker coffee pots in them and no replacements.

I’m an absolute coffee addict. Even before college my mom had a GE percolator. It made the best coffee ever. Many all night study sessions were blessed with this thing. I eventually inherited it many years later. I don’t how many years I used it but it finally quit. When I returned to college to peruse the engineering deg, I set a goal of A average and top 5 of class. Lofty indeed but I succeeded and top three. Twenty hour days were the norm for five solid years. I learned to sleep on demand anywhere. Coffee was the beverage anytime of the day or night, as required. Today I make 10-11 cups first thing in the morning. Two cups with breakfast then the rest goes into a twenty year old Stanley thermos. I finish that at lunch at work. I struggle to 5:00pm when I get home but I feed my dog and make another pot. It usually lasts until bed time.

Many keyboards and iPads have given their last sparks to spilled coffee. Even my dog had the misfortune of spilled coffee. She hates the smell of it now and barks when the pot is ready. So I really do have a qualified service dog.

I have tried to repair these coffee makers a number of times but they change just enough year to year that parts are not replaceable nor interchangeable. It always seems something irreplaceable is broken or worn out. I see the spacemaker on eBay occasionally but always used. I guess when the existing one quits you just take it out and use a counter top one. I would probably use the cupboard mounting space for coffee and filters.

The final solution to coffee makers that quit... 1 for the kitchen at home and 1 for the boat . No glassware to break. Circuit board to fry . Boiler yo crap out . Filter to buy or run out of . It is a good size double stainless wall so stays hot a while too .I'll never have to buy another yay.

Indeed! Lol

I'd go for the Nespresso/Keurig as well. I don't have patience for drip coffee anymore.

And it's nice to have a nice fresh cup at 11 instead of "burner" coffee.

Or anytime! But... important thing I learned this year. If you don’t winterize your Keurg, remove it from the boat! The same thing happens to the water lines inside the coffee maker as would happen in your boat if you didn’t winterize! Oops!
