A Message from Rob Parmentier to all Sea Ray Sport Yacht and Yacht owners.

This has been an interesting thread, I know the background but nothing around personality and hearing the stories from you all first hand really adds some interest.

I don't see anything wrong with the letter either, well written. I actually like the changes they have made at Carver they focus on the things I as a customer/engineer value. Reliability/Construction/Redundancy. I was on the 52 command bridge and it was really nice. I certainly would consider one now with the changes.

I agree with Frank - there was no "inappropriate" information - like a customer list involved here.

Data about who owns what type of boat is widely available.

There are boat manufacturers who I have never had contact with before that I have heard from after our purchase last fall.

When I say "heard from" - I am getting invitations to private showing events with receptions and test drives. One manufacturer offered to pay for hotel rooms at a Four Seasons, with a 2 day agenda of receptions, meals, and test drives.

Did they send that randomly - no - you can buy the data of who owns a 60 ft boat. Or any other size.

Brunswick abandoned a market - fair game (in fact good business) for other manufacturers to offer the advantages to join their product line.

Genius marketing, from what I can tell. It is heart-breaking at the same time, though. When we arrived at the Essex Island Marina last week, there was an L650 that was already in, part of the New York Athletic Yacht Club rendezvous. It was absolutely beautiful.
