How NOT to go thru a bridge opening , strong language warning

Bt Doctur, Looks like the Point Pleasant bridge? Very strong currents and possibly engine troubles? Not sure. But really it's the "MTV Jersey Shore Types" like the dude doing the video/narrative.... not the poor guy in the boat.... that make people like me leave NJ.

Who knows what was wrong with the boat or the captain but let's default to a jackazz... What is wrong with people ??
 
You can see exhaust out of starboard aft and he did seem to back up. The current looks strong and with a single engine and no thrusters it would be hard to maneuver.
 
We have current like that in areas we go but no items like a bridge to hit. We do have rocks in some current areas and we look at the charts very well before we go. It is sort of like packing for vacation. Make sure you have every thing packed the night before so there is no last minute rush the next day.
Our insurances has a clause in it that if you do not have a plotted course you may not be covered.
 
I saw this vid a few weeks back on FB. The guy who shot the video is looking for his 15min of fame. Obviously taken from shore by a dim-witted land person.

We don't know the circumstances of the captain's misfortune (inexperience, engine trouble, helmsman had a heart attack) but any boater can really feel for him. The people you get upset with are the ones who crash into something while running 30 knots at night, with blood alcohol of 0.18.
 
This is the bridge in SeaBright, NJ.... Its on the shrewsbury river... Under that bridge is a very bad current, Actually its the 2nd worst current on the Eastern seaboard. The worst current is Hells Gate!!!! But with that being said, I have a friend that knows him and they said he lost a motor... The current is so bad in there u lose a motor ur done!!!! So that guy taking the video he is the Jackass!!! That has no clue!!!!

Some of the next generation seems to be more amused by the misfortune of others and wants it displayed on social media... I don't see it getting better any time soon
 
Dunno. The last thing I think of when seeing something that stands out is to pick up my phone, whether good or bad. Seems like many have their phone at the ready just for those moments.
 
Hope everyone is ok, ...and no PTSD from the incident.
 
Of course Snookie’s boyfriend behind the camera makes no mention of the fact that the person at the helm could have been killed.

He was far too busy displaying a total lack of social skills.

He would have crapped in his Abercrombie undies if he were in that situation. This assumes of course that could even get that boat away from the dock.
 
The dude "filming" will never be able to acquire in his lifetime what is needed to purchase, never mind operate such a vessel in a precarious like that, so his abercrombies will most likely remain in the condition they had been in, "on" the dock.
