On my 205 Sport, my horn has not worked since I purchased the boat 3 years ago, it makes a very strange electronic techno type of sound. Purchased a replacement horn, and I get the same strange sound, no horn sound. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Did you replace it with the OEM horn? Some of the newer boats did come with electronic horns... that may be what you have.

I did replace it with the OEM. The strange sound it makes is loud, just not a horn sound. If that is the case, are they
Coast Guard approved?

The horn on mine sounds like a loud quacking duck. On earlier models some of them didn't drain causing water to stand which ruined the horn. If it's loud I'm sure it's fine.

Mine quit working and I found it was installed upside down so anywater that got in through the vents filled the horn. It also had a big mud dobber nest in it. Was going to buy a new one, but cleaned it up and installed it correction and it's been fine since. I keep an air horn, the little duck quack is not going to get anyone's attention.

That’s the famous SR Duck fart horn. It’s supposed to sound like that, unless you don’t go OEM. Luckily they changed it out with my latest boat. All 3 before that had the same duck horn. Good for some laughs around the dock.

No, it's not even the duck horn sound, it sounds like an electronic spring noise, hard to explain.
Kind of like this:

It's more of an electric buzzer than a horn. Fits the USCG definition of "an efficient sound-producing device". It's not really effective though.

Last week I was on the Niantic River in Connecticut at idle speed, up in the non-restricted (no speed limit) area. I noted a guy in small center console skiff just on plane coming down river in our general direction, on the opposite side of the river. I watched him adjusting something under the wheel and had a feeling I should keep an eye on him. Sure enough, he got fully head down and his boat started veering toward me. He was on a collision course to hit my stern so I hit my standard "duck quack" horn to get his attention and it had ZERO effect. Then I pulled out my canned compressed air horn and gave him a couple blasts. It scared my passengers but also his attention real quick and he finally whipped his head up.

My brother in law was down river and said he never heard to duck horn, but everyone on the river heard the air horn.

Now I understand. I’ve heard the product development team has been working on a solution for their embarrassing horn for quite some time now.
