    Jobbie nooner roll call!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Red Bull competition sounds awesome. I just saw the SCS fireworks are that night too, if things are getting too rowdy on the island by 10:00! We'll be in the as of yet unnamed 280DA, blue canvas, probably tough to find because there are a ton like it out there. Probably head to the...

    Jobbie nooner roll call!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, we'll be out there! I'm surprised nobody else here is going, or at least nobody has admitted it. We're taking a boat full of Jobbie rookies, so should be fun... Have a safe drive in!

Looking to buy my first boat - yikes!!!!

We just went through the exact thing you are, and without this site I think we'd still be trying to figure out what to get! We ended up with a 280 rather than the 290, but we looked at a few of those and that's a beautiful boat. And, the 5.0L BIII setup is fantastic! We looked at a couple...

    Considerate Boaters................

First, that was hi-larious @Presentation! Second, talking about consideration, do you need to tell your guests not to bring their freakin' dog?! We'd just had our first kid, got a sitter so we could be carefree to go watch the fireworks, and our buddy brings a dog, who's never been on a boat...

    Worth the Wait!

Sorry I haven't responded sooner, it's been a GREAT water weekend here in SE MI. Ummm... I loaded pics to my profile, but for some reason it's not showing up. I also tried loading to my signature and that's not showing up either. Going to have to spend some time tomorrow figuring out what...

    Worth the Wait!

Well, we finally are officially up and running in our new (to us) Sea Ray now that Spring has finally sprung. We've taken our first few runs on our beautiful Lake St. Clair with no major incidents, and we LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the new boat! Thanks again for all of the advice from everybody here in...

Differences from 260 to 290 for Family of 4

Thanks, very excited to be in the club! The Captain is actually stretching the Duramax legs this weekend picking up a friend's boat "up north". Not only true that people like friends with boats, they also love friends with tough trucks! No trailer in the deal, we're going to try the marina...

Differences from 260 to 290 for Family of 4

You put us over the top on that decision. Gotta trust the advice from a fellow Duramax driver - if there's one thing we understand, it's the fun of having more power than you almost ever need! I don't call the captain "Captain Overkill" for nothing!

Differences from 260 to 290 for Family of 4

Well, thanks to the great advice from everybody here, and LOTS of looking, we are about 2 days from owning a 2005 280DA with twin 5.0's. She's stunning, we're REALLY excited, but this Spring has been TERRIBLE in Michigan. I hope it's not a sign of things to come for the summer!

    Dent in fiberglass

Reviving an old thread here... We hope to be closing on our new 2005 280DA in the next few days. We saw her this weekend for the first time without the shrink, and man, is she a looker! :smt038 The only thing we noticed that we weren't thrilled with was a vertical dented area, port side...

Differences from 260 to 290 for Family of 4

Interesting advice, but haven't had luck with that approach so far! We'll keep trying to be patient... There was no response from the "seller" on that boat, and the ad disappeared, so it either was not legit or I was too slow!!

Differences from 260 to 290 for Family of 4

Still looking... What would you do? 2004 with 4.3L BI, blue hull that we LOVE, with trailer, no windlass, no genny, 215 hours OR... 2005 5.0L BIII, no blue hull, but with windlass, still no genny, 300 hours, about $3K less but no trailer... We're still up in the air about trailering so...

Differences from 260 to 290 for Family of 4

Still looking! We almost strayed, started looking at Regal and Monterey where you can get more boat for the money. But then, on advice from this great site, talked to the mechanic where we plan to keep her and they aren't really equipped to work on Volvos. So, back to Mercs, and we really...

    What is Cash Worth?

What are you referring to with "these new rules about cash"? And how would one find cash deals? Separate question, would a dealer-owned boat that they took on trade have more or less room for negotiation than a boat that's just being brokered? Seems like they'd be more compelled to get rid of...

    What is Cash Worth?

We're looking to buy a boat in the $40-50K price range soon. Most of those that we are interested in are listed with brokers. Knowing they leave room to negotiate in their list prices (seems to be about 5-7% talking to some locals here in SE Michigan), is it higher than that if we were to have...
