Ahhh, thanks, great idea! I'm on an inland lake so no real worries about potentially running out of fuel, and I can always limp home on the port engine if that we're to happen. Of course, no overnight trips anyway until I get a replacement water tank installed. It never ends...
Thanks for the reply. Checking the gauge will be easy. What about the pick up line (I know its pretty tight above the tank). Is it a flexible line? Can it be removed and replaced?
I know I've seen this somewhere on-line, but I can't find it now on any forum...
Can some one tell me at what level the generator fuel pickup is on an '85 vintage 390 EC? I have an 8.5 Westerbeke that feeds from the stbd. tank. It wouldn't start two weeks ago and the gauge read barely under...
Thanks for the info! I haven't torn into mine yet, but will as soon as it warms up a bit.
Does anyone know how many rollers there are/would need replacing? Just 2?
Does anyone know who supplied the steering wheels for the early 390's? Was it a 15" Attwood like in the attached pic? From the pics I've seen on other EC's it looks correct, as far as being stainless w/6 spokes.
Someone replaced the one on my boat with a smaller wooden model like on newer...
I spoke with someone at Taylor Made today and I was told that they didn't make the windows for an '85 390 (or any windows for that vintage), but that they did provide the windshields.
So then I call Sea Ray and got a parts list for an '89 off the web site (as far back as they go, but I think...
I'm going through the same process with my '85 390. (Note to self, pay for the damn survey next time!)
I pulled an FMC tank that was installed in 2005 and am trying to mitigate water in the center bilge (port lights...) before I purchase and install a new tank. They still make the exact...
Thanks, Ron. Very helpful. I wish I could easily get my boat inside & on the hard to do this, but the lake I'm on doesn't even have a Travelift. Both windows are pretty wacked due to previous slapdash "repairs" and I'm sure I haven't helped matters, but trying my best to mitigate water...
Hey Ron, Thanks for the supply link! I was looking for a supplier for gaskets for my 390 EC.
So I have a question for you and others who may have done this. I understand these windows were all designed to slide open in some fashion; however, the PO's of my boat attempted to seal everything...
I need to do this job on my '85. Did you source your replacement rollers at Home Depot? Are top and bottom rollers the same? Do you happen to know which specific ones you used... link maybe?
I've been working on my boat since I bought her in Sept, e.g. impellers, thermostats, packing gland, window, stove, head repair, etc... I'm learning a helluva lot about all the systems on an old 390 and feeling more and more that, in spite of all her "issues" she's mine to keep and make better...
Article doesn't say, but I guess this was a 320 SunDancer.
Lucky it had an air pocket after capsizing. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/30/us/Stuart-bee-missing-boat-Florida-port-canaveral.html?auth=login-email&login=email
