I've been looking at these also, buy the way , they both look great. You have come a long way with your boat Tom.
I'm going to bring mine home for the winter and replace the dreaded blue carpet in the interior. If there is any money left in the spring it's going to get a radar arch.
Thanks Rick
Both the curcit breaker and the key switch should have 10 gauge red (hot) wire in and out. Out of the breaker into the key switch and out of the k/s to the start switch on the right side. If your on the bridge helm you should be able to remove the pannel on below the wheel and have easy access...
Without a radar arch you really don't have many options for mounting a radar. I have seen them mounted on the front of the bridge but that would not allow you to see anything behind you and that's a lot of cash to put out and not get the full 360 degree range.
That sounds about the same as the way my pumps run. The hole set-up looks kind of hooky but I can change an impeller in about 5 minutes, way better the the Merc. pumps.
Hey Tom, that looks familiar, I just replaced my instrument panel last year. Scott Cambra does a nice job. Believe it or not, there is some method to that madness. I can give a few pointers, give me a call if you still have the number.
Tom those shaft couplers are no fun to get off, especially with the engines in place. :smt021
You may want to check out your cutlus bearings to make shure they are OK. If you do have to remove the shafts, you should also think about installing dripless shaft seals.
Hey Tom, looks like your really going to town on that thing.
Now you know why I siad the relationship we have with our boat was a "Love/Hate".
Good luck with it. Rick
Yea, that 5200 is a p.i.a. to get off.
I just did the same thing on the Daytripper last spring. I also used 3/4" starboard, but the guy at my local plastic shop recommended that I not use lexan for the windows. He said that it did not hold up very well in a salt water environment. Not sure...
Thanks Tom
That's where I thought it should be, but it is going to be difficult to get the hoses back past the starboard side gas tank. I didn't like the idea of having the holding tank in that center floor compartment inside the cabin, I'm not sure I would like a gas tank there either but...
I'm getting ready to install a new head and holding tank system on our 86 300DB and would like to know where the holding tanks were installed from the factory on this boat. There is only a porta-potty in it now, one of the reasons we named it the "Day Tripper"
The previous owner said the tank...
On my 86 300DB, there is no pulpit, there is an 18" square hatch for the anchor locker. May not be much help to you, but nice to know there are some other 300db owners out there.
