if it is seawater cooled pull the plugs and check for water in cylinders. To me a seawater cooled SMBC is only good for 8 years before it needs new heads and manifolds.

yes it can happen.. The mercarb 2 bbl is one of the worst with ethanol fuel..The ethanol eats the carb bowl turns it fuzzy white.. found that phase 4 treatment and mystery oil solves those issues, add it as labled on the bottle..

Check for water in fuel. electric fuel pump could also be failing if it has one.. or bad connection to pump. That pump runs off oil pressure switch on port side of engine.
