We need to replace the manifolds, elbows, and fittings on both engines of our 1988 34 Sundancer. We have Crusader 454 engines... We are getting estimates now.. what is a reasonable cost for the parts and labor.. how will we know if we are getting ripped off...
Thanks
Another product that would probably work well is called Consume. You can get it at commercial cleaning supply stores. It eats organic matter and is great to have at the boat and at home.
Hi Frank,
We keep our boat at Pirates Cove Marina in Panama City. The mechanic we have been using is moving to Tennessee this month. Do you know a good and honest wrench that would be good with a 34 Sundancer with 454 Cummings V-drive engines?
Thanks
Whole truth be told... I have been going to the boat all winter... however, my wife will not go until she can get a tan.... fortunately, i do have a very nice dog house to sleep in, as I am doing it frequently during the colder months... lol
Absolutely a little steam is normal, but my port engine looks like I am putting on a Blue Angels demonstration at show center!!!! I also have good power and temperatures are balls on (that is an industry term I learned from watching My Cousin Vinny)... just the port engine steams much more than...
rob...
thanks for that website... that will do the trick nicely for now. The larger platform does look nice, but with tax time coming, I better hang on to that cash for now. Appreciate the help.
thanks for the addtional imput... in the fall, a mechanic did shoot the temp gun and he recommended taking out the thermostats altogether. He told us then that we would soon need a new manifold, but to run it and see if it cleared. He recently told us that they run about $1000 each plus labor...
We are wimpy.... if the water is under 80 degrees here, it is unfit for swimming!!! lol... It does get fairly cold here in North Florida, at least by Florida standards.... highs in the 50's and lows in the 30's.. typical day for some places, but our blood gets thin there... otherwise we would...
we had a bottom job last spring and the bottom still looks good, so not too worried about build-up blocking the water going in. we changed impellers back in the fall... that's what makes me think the exhaust manifolds need to be changed.... any thoughts? Thanks so much for all of your input...
when running our twin 454 cruisaders, there is a lot of white steam coming out of the back.. not really smoke and doesn't smell like oil. Is this a problem with the exhaust manifolds? If so, what is a ball park cost to repace them.

NorCal... thanks so much for the great info. Your swim platform looks great... we just may have to go with that!
Sundancer... the we got the boat last year and the teak was very weathered. The screws just pulled from the wood... 6 screws were still in the fiberglass!!! Thanks for the great...
Maybe too late... but we put the Bose marine speakers with subwoofer in the arch of our 34 Sundancer.... awesome..... and my wife is very much into music!!!
The wood on one of the two inserts decided to go their own way last time I took the boat out. I have a 1988 34 Sundancer.. are the wooden inserts a standard thing that I can order from somewhere... Please help me find a replacement!!!!!
Thanks
Billy G
It all comes out in the wash... gas prices are obviously hurting boat sales. We recently bought a 34 ft Sundancer at a bargain price, and even factoring in fuel costs, we can still remodel it for less than possible 3 years ago. Making lemonade out of lemons here in North Florida.... great...
THANK YOU!!!! This helps so much! Yes, we live in Tallahassee but our boat is in Panama City for now. Thinking of moving it to Destin after the summer! Thanks again for your contacts..We are new to the boat owning world!!!
