    Rust in Water on Startup

My port side 8.1 was replaced last year with a long block (Michigan Motorz), and all has run well since. I have noticed that on startup, a good amount of rust colored water comes out the exhaust on startup on that engine. I know a little is normal for a boat in salt water, but I see much more...

    Official 2003.5-2008 340 Sundancer Thread

Your boat is not the same as mine, so I can't give you the part I use since it may not be right. But, if you go to mercruiserparts.com and enter your engine serial number in the the 'Search By Serial Number Box' at the top, that will lead you to what you want.

1999 454 Mag MPI just quits - videos

Only shows the beginning (it was much worse further down), so not the best, but see the third picture down in post #24 of this link, gives a clue: http://www.clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/water-in-oil-340-with-8-1l.112343/page-2#post-1392409

1999 454 Mag MPI just quits - videos

This is good advice. On my boat, the small exhaust that connects to the side outlet had the inner lining come away from the outer lining. Instead of a circle, my exhaust was only able to go through a thin crescent moon. It was not until I removed the whole exhaust line and looked through it...

Yes, still happy with the fridge! It is more quiet than the original. Just pulled cold beers from it this weekend.

Kohler 5ECD EC72 error code -- is there a "most likely" culprit?

Glad you found it and thanks for follow-up to close the thread for someone to learn from. An entire generator does not work based on one of the least costly items...

Quick question: Are both of the 8.1 engines standard CW rotation?

    8.1 Hydo-locked; Repair / Replace Options

It has been a tough year boating wise. While working on the fuel system on my 8.1, I hydro-locked the engine on fuel. Learning the hard way is expensive. Now, I am working through options on repair or replacement of the engine. Has anyone used Michigan Motorz, since that seems to be the...

    8.1 Fuel Pressure

I believe I should wrap up this thread. I will likely start a separate thread about what to do with the hydro-locked engine. Regarding the fuel pumps, the set from S & J Complete Fuel Injection Services was actually pretty nice. If I pull the vacuum, I get 40 psi on the fuel rail, which...

    8.1 Fuel Pressure

Yes, I was able drain the gas, and was able to crank over without plugs, then put them back and got the engine started. But there is a noticeable metal on metal sound (more than valve train); the sound follows the RPM. Compression test was okay, and leak down test was okay at that #8 cylinder...

    8.1 Fuel Pressure

Things have not gone as I had hoped. Got the replacement seal, and put the pump together, reinstalled, and dropped the fuel rails back in. I keyed it on and pressure came up, then dropped. I keyed again and it happened again. This was new, no leaks were observed. What I should have done is...

    Bilge Pump Float Switch

I noticed that my float switch was not making the main bilge pump run for my 2007 340. I pulled the switch, and cleaned it with no difference. Pump would not run based on manually manipulating the switch. The switch at the helm does operate the pump. So the helm EIM circuit and the pump work...
