Guys, a neat trick for breaking loose plugs sealed with a copper washer is to hit the head of the plug with a hammer or something similar. Plug will then come right out. You don't normally need to hit it very hard either. Ed

I take mine on/off by hand but with gloves on as the brass casting has sharp edges on it that will slice your hand. Rinse the basket out then reinstall. - Ed

Could have a dead internal battery. I had intermittent problems with my Ratheon Nav 398 and had to have the internal lithium battery replaced.

Thanks for the replies. I plan on sucking out the old fluid with my oil change pump which will likely not remove all the old fluid. Is the full synthetic still compatible if there is approx a quart of the old left? I purchased the Valvoline stuff. Should be years before I have to do it again...

Was at Meijer today to buy new Trans fluid for my ZF Hurth trannys and they did not have enough of the Dexron III, so I purchased the Valvoline Full synthetic Dexron VI. Is this better and alright for my trannys that require Dexron III fluid. Thanks!

I thought I had heard that core rot can begin at around 25%. Is this a myth? I had one small area in front of my port windshield that registered about 17% during the survey and the surveyor was "concerned" with that spot too. What gives??

I have heard from surveyors and marine mechanics that this is normal at idle.

Sorry, forgot to add that it also over-rides the systems monitoring on the genset (like oil pressure, etc.) to allow the generator to reach operating conditions.

It's really more of a choke than a "pre-heat" on the gas version. I have the same 4.5kW Westerbeke.

Used them last year and was happy with the service; however I found better rates and better coverage with Charter Lakes out of the West side of Michigan and am im the process of transferring to one of their underwriters. Might be worth checking them too. Enjoy your trip.
