    Trim won't go down

Hey folks. I just got my 1975 SRV220 (Mercruiser 888) out of storage and I am preparing to sell it. But I ran into an issue that I didn't have when I put it away, I can't get the outdrive to move down. This has a 3 button setup on the dash. Pushing the down button does nothing, pressing the two...

Fuel Pump maybe? Help me diagnose

Thanks for the help, turned out to be a clogged line. Wish I'd been smart enough to think of that on the lake, but I guess I'll know in the future. :smt101

Fuel Pump maybe? Help me diagnose

Thanks, it is a mechanical fuel pump and the carb is the Rochester 2bbl. I'll check the filter on the carb, but... Shouldn't the separator filter fill itself up if the fuel pump is good?

Fuel Pump maybe? Help me diagnose

Hey all, I have '75 220. Motor is the 188hp mercruiser (Ford 302). Here's my story, maybe you guys can save me some time and money. 1st season with the boat - couldn't get it to run last year when I bought it - turned out to be quite a bit of water in the fuel. Early this season I had to...

    Refurbished 1973 SRV220

Very nice work, cuddy looks beautiful! I need to do the same thing to a '75 SRV220 this year. Seems like everyone only sells those shorter seats, do you have pics of your new seat setup? And do you have any info on the supplier for the top and backdrop? Edit: I see your seats in your...

    '75 Mercruiser won't start

Another update: Found a manual online with specs for the float and a couple of pictures of how to set it. Using a tape measure I think I got it pretty close and it ran good, able to idle and throttle up both. But when I shut it down there is still a little bit of fuel sitting in the bottom of...

    '75 Mercruiser won't start

OK, got it fired up. Ran it off a remote can first, then hooked up to the tank. Suppose the line just needed to be primed? Anyway, ran great but when I shut it down I noticed the carb was flooding with fuel, so I adjusted the float and now I'm short on fuel, or so it seems. If I hold the...

    '75 Mercruiser won't start

Hmm, fuel hose from access in floor to separator is new, there to fuel pump and then up to carb are old lines... Thanks for the thought, will be my first task tomorrow.

    '75 Mercruiser won't start

Filter looked to be full of water when it came off. I didn't think to put into a container where I could see it separate, unfortunately. So I guess I could be mistaken about being water as opposed to old gas? The guy I bought it from told me that he had and used it for the past 3 seasons...

    '75 Mercruiser won't start

1975 SRV220 w/188hp Mercruiser (Ford 302) I bought this boat about 6 weeks ago and here is how it has gone so far. When I first got the boat I was able to start it, but it would bog down and die if I tried to throttle it up, sometimes backfiring through the carb. After a few attempts, I would...

    1975 srv220

Well, I got a new battery in there and got her running today. That put a smile on my face that I haven't been able to shake yet. I'm going to pull over to my mechanic buddy's place in a couple days and have him look over the motor and get her running smooth. Hopefully I'll get some lake time...

    1975 srv220

Thanks guys, let me give you some fresh info and see what you think. I bought the boat on Ebay and pretty much know what the listing says. The owner told me he had it out about a month prior to my buying it. And this is Minnesota we're talking about, you just don't lie to strangers around...

    1975 srv220

Thanks for the quick response, and reassuring to boot. I've been spending the day trying to get it started for the first time. Thought my batteries were dead or weak so I put them on the charger (individually). They both showed near 100% charge once on there and I let them go to nearly full...

    1975 srv220

Hey all, I posted a similar post in the Newbie section before spotting this section, which is probably better suited for me and my newly acquired 1975 SRV220 Cuddy Cabin. I'll refrain from repeating the entire post, but would like to ask those of you with similar years and models to comment on...
