I was talking about the twin engine option on the boat.The spec sheet quoted was for the standard single engine. I should have made that clear. With the twin option you can barely stand in the bilge much less lay down.

The 3 cylinder sportjet is 90 horsepower and is very unreliable. It has numerous electrical/ignition problems. The 4 cylinder is 120 horsepower and has two carbs. It is a better engine with less problems. The engines were designed by Force outboards and built by Mercury.

Their is no advantage for the 1998. These boats with the center head layout were very bow heavy and had planing and cavatation issues. That is why the design was changed in 1999. I have serviced and ran both boats and the 1999 model year design is better performing.
