Sounds like you have several things going on. The stuck shifter sounds like a Bravo 3 clutch problem. If you did some fast forward and reverse shifting, the cone clutch could weld itself to the gears.
Here is the update, I found a chip in the oil seal carrier assembly on the input shaft as well as the gear lube quick connector broke at the hose barbs. After looking at it, I am pretty sure I caused the carrier assembly chip. The Quick connector, I have no idea, I just happened to see that...
Pulled the drive off today. Trolley system worked great. Had oil in the bellows. Checked engine alignment, It was spot on. Tomorrow is seal day. Due to some medical stuff, I can't work too long in this wonderful boating weather.
I bought one of those 5 gallon bucket shop vacs from lowes. (I didn't want oil in my good shop vac) I sucked up all i could then mixed some water and degreaser and then filled up the bilge several times and vacuumed it out. That seemed to do the trick. I then set up a water oil separator with...
Found drive oil leaking into bilge. Reservoir was empty. I traced the line and could not find a leak, so I guess the drive has to come off. I found plans online for a drive cradle. Since my boat barn has a dirt floor, I had to make a track for the cradle.
10 years ago, I build my wife a swing using 8X8 posts. When I was trying to figure out how to swap my motors, I was sitting on the front porch looking at that swing she wanted and only used 4 times that I could remember. I put an I bolt ob the bottom side and attached a sling strap to it, them...
I switched to the SS plugs when I dropped in new motor. I used the same anti-seize that we used at work for dissimilar metals on our reactors. We not only use with the high heat and pressures but also in our scrubber which uses basically salt water. Never had any issues.
The impeller might be the cause of the belt smoking. When I got my, new to me, boat the PO showed me the engine would start but he said something was frozen causing the belt to slip. Turned out the impeller had a piece broken and wedged so as to lockup the pump. Just check before smoking a...
I had the same problem. I had an old patch cable from an outboard and I shortened it. Every time I tried to connect the j-box under the helm, the gauges would not work. I then connected the j-box near the engine with the old patch cable and everything came to life.
I know this message is a year old but it does not say if you fixed the problem. I had the same issue when I upgraded to the ATP. I spoke with Bennett tech and was able to pin point the problem to a broken wire. The leads should have 240 - 260 Ohms and the controller looks for that. I cut the...
