Here's the update. After making myself nuts trying to make a decision, I pulled BOTH motors and replaced them with 2 new Mercruiser 350 Mag Strokers. I gained 20hp per motor, lost approx. 800lbs and will be saving a ton of money on gas. The boat runs amazing! Not sure how fast she's running...
the motor doesn't have serpentine belts, sorry. I am actually trying to sell the motor whole if I can, but if I part it out I will let you know
Thanks
Paul
I have a 4 season old (approx 200hrs) Mercruiser 7.4 L MPI that is currently in my 33' Sundancer. It is in drop in & turn key condition
Fresh water cooled, New raw water pump (maybe 5 hours on it), 1 season on new Oil Cooler. Engine was purchased as a re-manufactured long long block with new...
Thank you all for the guidance, at least now I have a better feel for what I am looking at. Ideally I would love to go with 2 383's, but I am not sure if that is in the budget. I am waiting for numbers back from the mechanic to replace both motors and what a re-man 7.4 will cost to install...
I just blew my 1996 7.4 liter MPI/ 330hp and am looking for guidance. My mechanic told me I can buy a long block 7.4 liter or replace it with a brand new 383/ 350HP drop in. the 7.4 is a big block and the 383 is a small block and 150 ibs lighter.
Would anyone know what is recommended or have...
I have been using Buff Magic and Propolish for years with great results. This may be over kill, buy I usually put a coat of Collinite Wax. I've been very happy with the results.
Thanks all for the help, but I have one more question..... exactly where inline do you install the filter, at the charger/inverter or between the receiver and the amp?
Re: Background noise in my stereo system
I have the same problem with my 1996 330 Sundancer and it drives me CRAZY !!!! Does anyone know what how to filter it out ???
Mine is hypalon....I just picked up the replacement yesterday, now all I need for the rain to stop so I can try it out !!!!!
The one that Mercury just replace was stored out on my marina's dingy rack all winter and did get pretty nasty looking, I used the Speed Clean on it and it came back...
on a side note I stumbled across an inflatabe cleaner called "Speed Clean" made by Aurora that did an amazing job turning my Hypalon dink from filthy back to like new.
Just wanted to share my find !
Skolbe, most people never deflate their dinks until it's time to roll it up for the winter. It is a good idea to give it a good rinse and drain it out after every use (just my opinion)
Ok, just got a call from Dave at Buster's Marine and thanks to their "relationship" with Mercury I will be...
OH MAN....it looks like I'm going to be doomed to dingy hell !!!! Well, cross your fingers for me and hope Mercury redeems itself and sends me some good news !!!!!
2 weekends without a dink and counting !!!!!
