    WTB: Lofrans Progress 1 Parts

Walter, All of the replacement parts are readily available. The pressure finger for that specific windlass comes from Dixon Precision Enterprises, (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dixon-Precision-Enterprises-LLC/101871974702487). The spindle, spring, nut and washer are available at P2 Marine 306...

    WTB: Lofrans Progress 1 Parts

Hi Guys, Ron here again. I today received the newly manufactured long pressure finger (8mm post) from Dixon Precision Enterprises, LLC. (Michael Dixon 770-789-7411 DixonPrecision@Gmail.com) It is really too nice to use. I think I shall put it in a display case.

    Anchor Windlass Capstan Problem

Thanks to all for the really helpful comments. More digging and a post from here yielded "Dixon Precision - dixonprecision@gmail.com" as a source for newly manufactured 8 mm (long) and 9 mm (stubby) pressure fingers. The 8mm is for the older Lofrans Marlin that I am refurbishing. The attendant...

Thanks, Mitch, Good advice to which I shall adhere. I have studied all the parts diagrams and understand what you suggest.

    WTB: Lofrans Progress 1 Parts

Hello Cocktail Time. Quite coincidentally, we've named our vessel "Twilight Time." I concur with your analysis and have scouted the parts that are available. I shall take the thing apart on Saturday and see what lies under the improvised finger.

    WTB: Lofrans Progress 1 Parts

Thanks for the kind reply. I shall disassemble the thing on Saturday and see how the mod was crafted. I'm going to cut off the 8 links of sub-par chain, and swap the rope end-for-end and resplice. I'll make a longer 'graduated' splice as to avoid having a 'lump' hit the spreader.

    WTB: Lofrans Progress 1 Parts

I note that the top photo in this thread shows geometry different from the Marlin in the photo that I posted. See photo for the kit wanted by this unit - impossible to find, of course...

    WTB: Lofrans Progress 1 Parts

Hello, This thread is perfect for my query, so I hope the late entry is OK. I have a Lofrans Marlin, which I think is earlier than, or the same as the Progress I. The finger is a homemade fabrication from aluminum plate (see photo), and does not allow the spring to tension it against the rope. I...

    Anchor Windlass Capstan Problem

Previous comment meant for Tripsdad.. Re: the 'frozen' possibility. I have discovered that failure of the pressure finger is a common problem. In this case it appears that someone fabricated a sort-of replacement that did not work. No one seems to be manufacturing a replacement, OEM or...

    Anchor Windlass Capstan Problem

270 SunDancer 97 model year. First use of Lofrans Marlin Rope Chain windlass. Pays out and retrieves chain properly Pays out Rope OK, but will not retrieve. Grips slightly then slips with no rope retrieved. The gypsy appears in good condition but a spring activated snubber (?) does nothing (see...

    Ever The Decorator

We recently acquired a 97 Sundancer 270. In sound condition, but but kind of tired looking, in-and-out. The price was right and it is more boat than we thought we could afford, after being out of our Wellcraft Eclipse 250 for too long. Cockpit seating polished up very nicely but the back bench...
