Any 480 MY owners that can give me thoughts on this boat, both positive and negative? I have owned a 390 MY in the past, but this boat looks to be more than a larger version of the 390. Rob
ttmott, thank you for the detailed explanation. This gives me what I need to evaluate these boats. At $16k to correct both engines, that will definitely be a negotiating point if not previously corrected!

Been out of Sea Rays for a few years and looking at venturing back in the fold. I am currently interested in a 2005 480 MY. From what I understand, the Cummins engines in this boat have problems with the exhaust overheating as they are "dry exhaust". Can more knowledgeable folks here...
Connections were fine and the gauge is still in the green on the halon bottle. Only thing I could think was a pressure drop due to winter, or possibly, I have a faulty circuit somewhere.

I am getting the error code 61 on my Onan generator as well. I put the Fireboy system to Override which fixed my mains not firing, but it has not cleared my Onan error. Is there something else that needs done to clear the error on the Onan so that it will start? It was clearly the Fireboy...
Turns out it was the fire suppression system sending a false discharge signal and shutting everything down. Put the switch to override on the panel and the engines fired immediately. Now I have to figure out how to reset the generator which is throwing an error 61 for external shutdown due to...

New to the Cummins engines this year and have had no issues this summer with the engines firing right up without hesitation. I took to my marina last month for winterization where it has sat waiting for them to change the oil and winterize the blocks. Today, after about a month of sitting I...
So, following this thread as I have always let my blowers run all the time in every boat I have owned since 1993. I have piece of mind not worrying about fuel fumes. In fact, after a complete fill up in a Silverton I owned, the fuel tank started leaking at the start of a 50 mile trip. I am...
I have also owned Rinker and Sea Ray. While I do believe Sea Rays are better built boats overall, there is nothing wrong with the Rinker, as I enjoyed mine very much and it is still good quality. Given the hour difference, I would probably go with the Rinker. 800 hours is a little high for a...
Another topic on the 44 SB. I just purchased my "new to me" 2006 Sedan with 700 hours on the Cummins QSC500s. The boat was winterized in 2018 with all the oils and filters changed. Last year, 2019, the boat was recommissioned but was run only 3 hours. When they winterized the boat last year...
Well, definitely leaning toward faulty as I crawled all over the boat, and in the boat, and everything was bone dry. No recurrence of the alarm today. Definitely a loud alarm!
