Looked at the boat yesterday, took the peddles offs the deck and there is no wire attached. Hooked them up to the proper terminals and they work perfectly. I would only assume the gent that owned the boat prior had small kids that were playing with the peddles..

Definitely use a stern anchor or tie to shore, if you go to shore to use a tree use enough rode that you can go around the tree and back to the boat, this will allow you to let the one end go and pull out the rest. this allows you to get moving in the dark if need be or in a case or emergency..
when you say the switches do you mean the foot peddles them selves? I don't have any other switch.

I have a new to me 1997 330 Sundancer, the foot peddles for the windlass don't work and I can't find the power issue, is there a power supply button to turn on other then the dash switch for main power? Unfortunately the guy I bought the boat from couldn't figure it out either. Is there a fuse...
