Yeh and now that ive got all chain, its much better... i think with rope, the anchor drops so fast the rope doesnt have time to uncoil properly and was forever getting bound up..

Exactly... i use various colours of small line, like small thread. I tie a small piece with a knot every 2 meters, and i use red for the first 10 meters, than orange for the next 10 meters, then yellow... this way i know when im at 10 and 20 meters even if i loose count.. but its a simple system...

Just be mindful to keep the fluid in your batteries topped up when doing this.. if their maintenance free thats no issue. I need to put fluid in mine every 6-9 months.

i had a slow leak for over a year. looked high and low to find it, and couldn't find it anywhere. tried new pump etc, same issue, so i gave up on it. and one day i was in the bilge and i see an occasional drop down the back near the transom... right near the rear shower. So i look at the shower...

Resurrecting an old thread here... though do you guys find that at slow speeds having your tabs out (or down) helps with slow speed wander?

i believe the guys at swim platforms are ex searay guys? they have all the factory patterns for the antislip and they match the colours perfectly. I put one on my boat, and ive never looked back. Only regret is that it didnt do it sooner.. The kit comes with everything required, and in my case...

this is interesting... i turn my batteries off and leave them on charge from shore power and the fridge kicks over onto shore power when 12v off... so if you leave your 12v on the fridge is always running on 12? and your always charging 12? or will the fridge always run on shorepower when...

i find with full water and fuel tanks, and 4+ passengers mine struggles to get on the plane, but tabs all the way down gets it up straight away. it did take me some time to realise how the switch worked. I assumed the switch works as you want the tabs to work, but its the opposite, the switches...

I know this is slightly off track to the original question, but how do you guys feel about freefall vs manual payout windlass? My last boat you had to hold down and it would reverse the gypsy and slowly pay out chain, which was easy to use. our new boat has this freefall system, you press down...

all chain was soo much better for me. No more rope snags, and it also helps keep some weight in the front of the boat which in my case (under powered boat) helps get on the plane. Your right, it is a costly exercise, but ive never looked back. The rope always gave me troubles

its also good to note that if you use a spare anchor on the beach to tie off the stern of the boat, its a good idea to bury it so that when people walk past they dont hurt themselves on the anchor... i was walking along the beach and stubbed my toe on someones anchor once, not happy :)

yeh thats what i thought.... i had a really wierd issue one when i was idling around the marina at night, engine just stopped and all lights went out... no power. had to turn switch to off and then it would only work on 1 or 2, but not both? then the next day it was fine again... never had a...

Do any of you change battery selection once you have started the engines? i use a 3 battery house bank on selector 2 for when on the hook, and i switch to 1 to start, and then once its started i switch to both.. ive heard that its not a good idea to change selection once its started? Any truth...
