Just a follow up here, I have run the entire 30 gallons of treated fuel through this carb. About half way through, I noticed more flow of fuel out one side of the squirter nozzle, but now, there is no stream out of either side, the surrounding area just gets wet with fuel when the accelerator is...
That sounds like the same style squirter on the Holley in my Camaro, but this is a different style squirter. The carb looks like a Carter style, and the squirter is held on with two torx head screws, but the top of the carb body would have to be removed before the squirter could come of.
I'll wait until this tank of fuel runs out and see if that makes any difference in the squirter flow. If not, then I either have a fuel pump that is getting lazy or the carb is just going to need a rebuild.
OK, not sure what made the difference, but this thing is running good again. I changed the fuel filter (which was new last year with minimal hours of run time till now), cleaned the flame arrestor (used aerosol TB cleaner followed by compressed air), poured 1.5 cans of Seafoam in the tank( it...
Thanks for the suggestions/help so far fellas. I did buy some Seafoam at the store last night along with the filter. I was planning on putting it in the tank before I started running the engine again just to get some cleaner circulating through the system. It couldn't hurt, right?!?
Yes, I did set the gap on the plugs. I will pull and look at them. I don't notice a misfire at idle, if I increase the throttle slightly it runs smoother. If there was a bad plug, wouldn't the miss be even more pronounced at mid to upper rpm ranges?
I'm going to change the filter today, I'll try the starting fluid test. As far as the floats set wrong, I doubt it. I have not done any work to this carb since I purchased the boat. Now a leaking float could be a possibilty.
I replaced the cap, rotor and plug wires season before last. I installed new AC Delco plugs this year. I had run it in the driveway after replacing the plugs and had no issue with it firing up and idling as usual. One of the reasons I think it is fuel related is that when the throttle is pumped...
I have owned this boat for five seasons and have always used Stabil whenever adding fuel. I have never had an issue with the carburetor until now. I just took her out for the first time this season a few days ago. Was hard to start, had to pump the throttle quite a few times to fire it up and...
I agree with what you state as my first mistake, live and learn. Never made the second mistake, I was smart enough to use a brass drift punch to not destroy the end of the shaft. Splitting the tube with a grinder/cut-off wheel was going to be my last option.
Not sure what zero responses says about my problem, maybe it is too common or the fix was too simple. Anyway, I am following up on this to possibly help someone in the future. Soaking the shaft overnight was the trick, although the parts counter guy at Marine Max said "heat it and beat it"...
Alright fellas, I need some serious help here. The rack and pinion steering cable is stuck on my 200 bowrider. The steering wheel will not budge in either direction. I disconnected the steering cable end at the transom and the outdrive can be moved back and forth, but the shaft is seized inside...
