4.3L MPI V6 Vapor Lock (again)!

Tom, Although, I have twin 4.3 Volvo Pentas, I had a very similar problem this summer. My problem ended up being a clogged fuel cooler. Not sure if you have fuel coolers but my mechanic cleaned the cooler and now no engine stall and starts right away. Good luck.

    Dogs on the boat?

We take our 85lbs Briard frequently when we're out at the beach for the day. He loves the water and is great fun on the beach. His life vest is a must! He hasn't fallen or jumped ship yet, but you never know. Overnight trips he stays home or with someone else.

    Deka Batteries

For some odd reason, my boat came from the factory with only two 24 group starter batteries, no house battery. For obvious reasons I had nothing but trouble with that set-up so this year I changed to group 31 Duracell AGM deep-cycle batteries from Sam's at $163 each. Haven't had one problem...

    Great Vacuflush "Tool"

Great tip, I'm sure I'm going to need it! My sister-in-law secretly flushed a tampon last weekend even after we went over the rules of using the head. My marine mech said most of the time with the vacuflush the items will make to the holding tank and then can be pumped out. Hope he's right.

    Wifi extender

Verizon's 4G MiFi is a pretty cool little device and it works great for us. The unit is only the size of a credit card and since we stay close to shore we're always within 4G range.

Any Advice On a Really Bright TV?

Steve, thought about adding a TV sunvisor? I see them at outdoor restaurant/bar patio's and they seem to be effective. I'm pretty sure they're just regualar LCD/LED. Of course the plasma wouldn't a good idea considering they draw much more power, heavier and have glass screens. Good luck!

Recommendation on Cleaning, Polishing, and Waxing.

Just finished one side of my navy blue hull this past weekend. Rear of the hull had moderate oxidation and took about 4 hours to complete. I used a circular buffer with the proper pads. I started with 3M Heavy Duty Compound, then a coat of 3M Finesse-it and finished up with Star Bright Premium...

    Grinding noises from starboard

I don't have the XDP drives. Fortunately, I got good advice before I bought. Also, they didn't have to pull the engine, he was able to drill and break apart the bearing. Although, I'm sure it'll still cost me 4 or 5 extra hours. Should be on the water this weekend!

    Grinding noises from starboard

Update: Small tear in bellows which obviously caused the gimbal bearing problems. Looks like the previous owner was trying to remove barnacles from the bellows and tore a small hole. Smart. Anyway, the mechanic is having a bear of a time getting the bearing out and he said he might have to pull...

    Grinding noises from starboard

Thanks guys...hopefully it won't be too painful. Saturday, the admiral gave me that "I told you so" look. I quietly went outside and did yard work.

    Grinding noises from starboard

Upon the mechanic hearing the noise he thinks it's the gimbal. But he's yet to open anything to confirm. I do have an extended warranty but I'm sure if there's a problem with the gimbal, most likely there will be water intrusion. That wouldn't be covered.

    Grinding noises from starboard

Not since last March before I purchased the boat. The only thing I've had done recently was to have the marina winterize the boat. That was late Nov. Nothing to the drive.
