Easy answer: don't stay at Gurney's. You can get houses/cottages for that price. You can find plenty of places at a fraction of the cost. Gurney's always has plenty of availability for a reason... Also plenty of marina dock options that are a fraction of Gurney's $9/foot. Don't feed the beast...
