Rod Rack in Aft Cabin Has anyone attempted to install a horizontal rod rack on the aft bulkhead in the aft cabin? Long storage location for single section rods is limited and this area has nearly the full beam should be long enough and beats just letting the gear sit on the bedding/cushion.

    Buying a high mileage diesel

If cross country towing is any part of the equation, the diesel is much more convinient. I don't tow much faster than 60 ever with my trailer and I don't like pulling a big triple axle into small gas stations. All the interstate truck stops were very convinient for me and made pulling through...

    Buying a high mileage diesel

New Super Duties have them built in as part of the towing package. Its call the tow command system, so you shouldn't need to worry about the electronic brake control. Does your trailer have electric over hydrolic or regular surge brakes? My F250 pulls our 280 just fine. Pulled it this summer...

    Official 280 Sundancer Thread

Kharriman, Thanks for going down to the boat, certainly appreciate it. I finished drawing up some rough drawings of the "dom dinghy davit" to send to a local fabricator here in Huntington for an estimate. He should have it back to me tomorrow, I can send you the estimate via PM if you're...

    Official 280 Sundancer Thread

Swim Platform Dimensions Does anyone have the dimensions of the swim platform handy? I have been watching the dinghy davit threads and am starting to look at getting a small dinghy with 4-6hp. Our boat is just about finished up with repairs. Throttle Position sensor replaced on both packs...

    Catalina Island Trip, Summer 2010

Catalina is always a great adventure! I keep our boat in Newport Beach in the Newport Dunes. Their facility has a very large ramp, plenty of parking and has a six lane wash rack. I think parking is about 10 a day and launch is about 20. Newport Harbor has plenty of things to do as well, with...

    Twin Engine Power Steering Question

Has anyone attempted to design or maybe even seen a method of tying the port power steering pump into the power steering system. Maybe some type of t valve that you could specifically select which engine you want to use for powering the steering system? I am new to a twin engine boat, but I...

    4.3 EFI trouble

I think I am definitely at my wits end. So far, I have replaced IAC, TPS, coil, wire set, cap, rotor, and plugs. Everything minus the TPS looked like they should be replaced so I don't feel like I have wasted money yet. However, problem is still there. Engines smell like they are burning...

Looking for tips on testing outboard motors for a dink

Alex, On my last boat I had a Baltik Boat 8'9" with a Nissan 8hp four stroke. The nissan was very reliable and quiet. I had good luck with the Baltik and the nissan was very reasonably priced. I bought the Baltik off of ebay and if you run a google search for nissan or tohatsu outboards (same...

    4.3 EFI trouble

Thank you for the reply, I do appreciate it. I just purchased the boat in August, so I am going through all the basics and getting to know my engines. I am not sure when the last tuneup was, but I think you are spot on. Sunday, I went down to the boat and the port side would not start at...

    4.3 EFI trouble

My 2001 4.3's are not been behaving. Initially my port engine kept dying and would not restart. I replaced the anti-siphon valve as it looked very corroded. Good to have it replaced, but didn't fix symptoms. I then swapped IAC from starbord to port and motor started. Starbord would not...

2004 350MAG MPI – lost port engine while underway

Thanks for the reply guys, I appreciate it. I think I'll use a permatex type sealant from NAPA for the fittings, not sure if I need to get new brass connectors yet. I'll have see how are they are to take off of the old solenoid. Alex, I have the new fitting in a box and they come prewired to...

2004 350MAG MPI – lost port engine while underway

Alex, My port side engine is behaving very similarly to what you had initially described. It won't restart and is acting almost as if the kill switch lanyard on the smaller cruisers had been pulled. Its turning over fine just not catching. I traced my fuel lines back to the fuel solenoid and...

    Thank you, New 280 owner

Thanks for all the encouragement. Yes the she has EFI and on the Sea Trial had plenty of power with 5 adaults and half tank. I just like the versatility of the design. Can do some fishing with the rear seat folded down and plenty of room for the family to fool around for 2-3 day trips...

    Thank you, New 280 owner

My family and I are just about finished with completing a deal on a 2001 280 Sundancer (4.3s and 5K). This forum was incredibly helpful in helping determine the model I wanted and what power/amenities we wanted. We go this weekend to pick up a trailer (Pirate Marine) and then bring it back...
