Guys - Happy post-Labor Day!
Got a question on battery charger replacement: We've got a 2001 400DB, with the original Pro Mariner "Protec 4" charger system. It's apparently gone into retirement. When we plug into shore power and run the stereo and kick on a few DC - shipboard lights, the...
I've got a 2001 400DB, with the same 3126/350hp versions. Nice motors! My first foray into the world of diesel... I recall reading that normal cruise range for this engine is 1700 to 2400 RPM, Max RPM at WOT should be 2800. If I'm not in a hurry, I usually cruise AT 1800-1900 RPM If a...
Hi, guys!
First - wanted to thank everyone for previously posting their thoughts, experiences and suggestions on other threads, regarding replacing their "NeverCold" refers. I'm in the same "boat".
Has anyone here tried the new Vitrifrigo DW-250, with the pull out freezer on the bottom, vs...
Hi, Philly -
In the process of doing the same thing on my '01 400 Sedan Bridge. The "NeverCold" DE-561 has quit - it was never a very good performer - and my mech has recommended the Vitrifrigo DP2600, as well.
About 1.8 yacht bucks, installed. Large increase in storage capacity (due to...
Thanks guys - AND Frank for your inputs. It's making sense. Heading down to the girl today to give the electrical panel a look-see. I may get lucky and find something readily apparent, like a burned connection.
Having tried the gen set after this last power loss and found that it would pick...
Hi, Ken -
I've got 350HP 3126 TA's in my 400DB, as well. They run beautifully - lots of torque, swinging big props!
She came with a container of Valvtect Biogard diesel additive, which I need to re-order. In the interim, I've come across another product called Power Service "Diesel Kleen"...
Thanks, FC and "Web" -
Web, I' thinking the issue more parrallels what you've described, because the gen set will pick up the left AC bus, but not the right. If the issue were in the power cord connections in the "trunk", use of the gen set would circumvent that problem.
In the past, left...
Hi, "Two"!
Just got a 2001 400DB and was surprised by the small size of the standard tabs! The "K - Planes" on my little 27' Fountain are much larger - and lnger then they are wide - with amazing effectiveness.

Hi, Guys -
On another note, I need to order more diesel fuel Anti-microbial additive and some Anti-bio stuff to pour in the toilets to keep the vessel smelling fresh.
Any favorites out there?
Happy Monday!
Mike:thumbsup:
Hi, Guys -
Picked up a gorgeous 2001 diesel Sedan Bridge in October. She's been running sweet! But when we get to the dock at our yacht club, we've issues trying to get dock power to carry the left AC bus. Drops off, and sometimes, simply refuses to pick up the input power.
Last night...
Thanks, guys!
I imagine the surveyor will be present for the haul-out, but not the sea trial?
The surveyor will be looking at all ancillary systems, etc.
Do surveyors sound the hull for water intrusion as standard procedure or is that an "extra" that need to be requested?
Thanks!
Mike
Guys!
Just got my purchase offer accepted on a 2001 400 Sedan Bridge, with Cat 3126TAs! She's spent her life in fresh water in a covered slip.
Next step is the sea trial. I've already contacted the local Cat dealer to bring an engine tech along to run a good diagnostic, oil sampling, etc...
Hi, Ken!
I know the boat. Looked at it a few weeks ago. It's in very nice condition. However, it's a toss-up between it and a 2001 with bigger, 3126 TA Cats, vs. the 3116's in the boat you mentioned.
Looking for the most power I can find. I want it to plane at cruise RPM...

Hi, guys -
Looking at a 2001 Sedan Bridge (400 DB) and trying to find performance info, like planing speed vs RPM, etc. Will it plane at 2250 cruise RPM running 350 HP Cat 3126TAs?
Wondering if I need more power - 400 plus? New to diesels - seems to be a very narrow RPM range. Perhaps...
Hi, Guys -
Looks like I found the right place. It's great to be aboard!
I'm considering three possible 400 Sedan Bridges: a 2001 gasser (502's), a 2000 diesel (340hp Cat 3116 TI's) and another 2001 diesel (407hp Cat 3126 TA's).
Since my current boat is a 27' Fountain / single 502...
