Nice job on the tv drawer. I’ve been thinking thru solutions to improve ours. Do you by chance have any drawings with dimensions of what you built for that box and tv mount. Willing to share? Would be most grateful. Thx Mark

Deciding between 380 gas (8.1 Horizon) and diesel (Cat 3126/350hp)

Wow, first I want to thank each and every person who replied - the information you all offered in the discussion was very helpful in expanding what we know and helping us make a decision. we decided to pursue the diesel however with a cap on what we would and could pay. Unfortunately the broker...

Deciding between 380 gas (8.1 Horizon) and diesel (Cat 3126/350hp)

Good point - home port is Warwick R.I. on Narragansett bay. We like to explore ports around the bay and of course Block Island, but also interested in venturing to the Vineyard, Nantucket and the Cape. Both boats are in better than average shape, comparable in some areas one better than the...

    2002 380 w diesels (CAT 3126) or gas (Merc 8.1)

So after coolers and injectors could be very expensive, but assuming its been well maintained and surveys fine, hopefully it will be all routine maintenance. Boat has a Reverso system installed. I would want to do fluids and filters myself as I'm pretty hands-on. Water flow from Port engine...

    2002 380 w diesels (CAT 3126) or gas (Merc 8.1)

Great comments and insights...no shortage of diesel where we boat on Narragansett bay in RI. Not sure if we'll benefit from lower fuel costs and a bit concerned about the significantly higher labor and maintenance expense. Working on a diesel mechanic now for engine survey. Actually we're more...

    380 sundancer caterpillar 3126

Very helpful thread...I'm in process of purchasing and have found two 380's, both 2002 we like one with gas (Merc 8.1 Horizons) that several surveyors and mechanics seem to be fond of, and one with diesel CAT 3126 350HP. Coming from the sailing side of boating, we're most familiar with diesels...

Would love to hear from any owners of Sundancer 380 with CAT 3126 diesels or Merc 8.1 Horizon gas engines...trying to decide between two same year 2002 boats. There is a price differential of $20k more for boat with diesels, but it also has a newly installed bow thruster.

    2002 380 w diesels (CAT 3126) or gas (Merc 8.1)

Hi - we are trying to decide whether to pay up a little ($20k more) for a 380 with diesels and a new installed bow thruster. Both are 2002 and roughly same hours 700. Would like to hear from any owners of 380's with diesels or gas and experiences - pros and cons. I know the diesels are heavier...

Considering an offer on 2002 SeaRay 380

Thanks for the info - we just had survey done and almost all areas were rated positively, dry deck and hull, clean and dry bilges. Unfortunately engine inspection revealed some issues. Compression good on all cylinders and boat came up on plane easily, cruised nicely at 3300-3400 and did achieve...
