Thanks for responding! Water flow out of the exhaust is similar to the other engine which looks ok. I will check the sensor once I figure out where it is.

I have a 2008 340 Sundancer and the port engine (8.1 inboard) at idle speed goes into alarm and safe mode about 3 minutes after started. Engine is not up to temp yet. The readout states system fault but nothing specific. Could this be a water flow sensor failure or maybe an impeller?

Thank you so much for the reply and you hit on a number of great possibilities. The vinyl backing that is glued to the hull of the boat is not saturated, it stops well below the rubrail area and I can see no water. I have good access to the hull and deck and it is dry with no signs of water...
