    Need engine rebuilt

I got a name of a new mechanic with many years of experience on Mercruisers engines. I will call him this week.

    Need engine rebuilt

I am concerned to go at high RPM. That engine has about 1,000 hrs and the mechanic told me that it might blow up at WOT. So, before I decided to do anything, (rebuild it or sell the boat) I will take it easy. My intention is to get a newer 340 (2004+).

    Need engine rebuilt

The engine runs fine but I don't want to go over 2,500 RPM

    Need engine rebuilt

Thank you for your comments. The boat is, generally, in very good condition but the mechanic found the compression on the starboard engine to be 110 psi in several cylinders and 125psi in the others. The port engine has compression of 155 psi in all cylinders.

    Need engine rebuilt

My mechanic, after checking the compression of my starboard engines told me that I need the engine rebuilt. So now I am not sure on what to do. Have it done or try to sell the boat "as is" as a "mechanic special" at a discount and telling potential buyers that one engine needs to be rebuilt. Did...

Port engine overheating - advise please

We checked the oil cooler also and it is fine. Where do you measure the PSI?

Port engine overheating - advise please

Well, the heat exchanger turned out to be very clean. Now what? The last thing could be the riser and the mechanic recommended to try to flush it with fresh water. Any advise still very much appreciated.

Port engine overheating - advise please

Thanks for your comments. Yes, they are fuel injected engines. Great to know that the temperature could go as high as 185. Manifolds and risers have been changed about three years ago. Does anybody know how high the temp must be to trigger the alarm?

Port engine overheating - advise please

I have a problem with my port engine (2000 7.4 fresh water cooled). Up to 2000 RPM the temp stays normal but going up to 3000 RPM the temps slowly goes up to about 180 F. I had the mechanic check the hoses and change the impeller. Also I had the diver check the sea water intake which turned out...

Why Are Most Helms on the Right?

My old Carver 57 had it on the left side and so my old Bayliner 40. I like it better on the right side as on my Sea Ray.

Wow, Two in the same weekend.

Unfortunately, this type of accident is not uncommon. People sit on the bow, are thrown out and run over by the boat and propellers. This situation gets even worse when the driver is intoxicated, goes very fast and the people thrown out are not wearing a life jacket.

Carver 406 vs SR 420 AC, convince me

I cruised extensively on a Carver 57 including a trip from San Francisco to La Paz Mexico. The boat handled the ocean very well with no problems at all. See video:

    Bow thruster

I am glad to know that I am not the only one having stress when docking with strong crosswinds. Now I am looking forward of having a bow thruster installed and enjoy the day out without worry about going back to the marina.

    Bow thruster

Thank you for your comments. It is always windy when I come back to my marina in the afternoon with a narrow fairway and a sharp turn to enter my slip and I feel I would be more relaxed knowing that I have a way to control the bow if I have to. Besides this particular situation, I have no...
