My 270da has twin 4.3’s and I’m gonna guess right around 10500lbs and is a bit smaller than your friends 33. I wish I had a bit more juice to get her up in plane but it does it just fine. Regardless, if your old worn out twin v6’s got her up on plane she should still be doing so now. Did you...
The Lofrans Marlin windlass on our 270 has started giving me trouble. I’ve cleaned the motor and brushes but I suspect the issue is in the control box. About 3 years ago when I first started having issues with it I actually found a tutorial someone had put together on disassembling and cleaning...
I’m thinking about modifying my cockpit cover so I can keep my Bimini top up WITH the cockpit cover on. As it is now my support poles for both front and rear Bimini tops are not the issue but the straps that hold the front down cannot be clipped to the windshield frame while the cockpit cover...
Anybody have any good suggestions for a beach area on the Potomac around 301 bridge/Colonial Beach area? My son will be two in August and he likes to stretch his legs. Sharks tooth beach is great, I just can’t see spending $125 to sit in the sand. Don’t mind heading even further down river if...
I didn’t even think about removing the light to look up there. It’s definitely not the port light because I find drips above it ON that trim piece. I’ve gone through all the port lights and they are good. A little dielectric grease and tightening up the latches took care of those. Thanks for...
I’ve got a slight water leak in the cabin on the starboard side of my 270. Water will pool up on the shelf just above the shore power controls/breakers and then sometimes find it’s way down to the counter top of the galley. I’ve narrowed it down to above the rub rail and even the port light...
Can you guys elaborate on how the “NMEA2000” works? I’m in the market for a chart plotter, stereo, and DSC VHF and I’ve been trying to figure out what stereo I could use with my remote at the helm. It sounds like with the right chart plotter and Fusion stereo combo I can skip the helm mounted...
We leave our 270 in the slip from about April to November. We only keep the camper canvas on early in the season and later. The rest of the time we have the cockpit cover on. It’s getting old and when thinking about replacing it I’m trying to think ways to make it better work for our...
My bad, all the pieces are there. They were stacked on top of each other in vacuum pack kinda deal and I couldn’t tell there were two. The ones for a bravo are like 2.5” long and these are only like .75” long. Crisis averted, as you were. Thanks guys
So I bought a two anode kits from Amazon. Each kit only comes with 1 anode for a ram. Is this correct? Each drive has two rams obviously so I would have expected two anodes for each drive. That’s how the Bravo I used to own was set up. Thanks guys
Definitely genII’s. I could have figured that out myself but didn’t realize it was that easy. Owner of the marina said aluminu, brackish water on the lower Potomac. Thanks for your help guys
I’ve had several boats before but never had to replace the anodes. I just wanna make sure I buy the right kit. Can anybody tell me what I need to look for when buying a kit? I know there’s a couple different versions for the alpha drive.
Also I know there’s an anode in each trim tab that...
Thanks guys. I think I’m gonna be ok. I’m not worried about the engines anymore. I did try to head down this morning to take care of the ac and genset but had to turn around to pickup a sick kid. Heading to the boat after work tomorrow night to take care of them. I plan on warming up the...
My 270 is still in the water and we’re supposed to get a cold snap here around Friday and Saturday, 27 at the water 24 inland a bit. My freshwater system is winterized but I can’t do the motors until I pull it out. I’m about an hour away and I don’t want to take any chances. I don’t have a...
